Hello, KFC.
If you're always checking your social media accounts, you may have noticed an influx of Chaco posts a few weeks ago. Even the trusted foodie Masarap Ba? reviewed it but sadly got Chaka for its rating.
I'm the type of person who gets even more curious when everyone throws hateful remarks on a particular dish. So despite Chaco's lukewarm reviews, I wanted to try it.
Available ala carte (PHP99) or combo, I went with the set which includes fries and drink priced at PHP145. R and J went with Fully Loaded Meals that include Flavored Shots (PHP164) and Famous Bowl (PHP165). Since I wanted to try Cracklings too, I got Fully Loaded Meal with Cracklings (PHP145).
Everything but Chaco was served right away. It took about 10 minutes before the photogenic chicken taco made it to our table.
As always, the classics of KFC did not disappoint. Though it took a while for us to decide on which part is best. I asked for thigh, breast and rib but wings seem to be the most bang for the buck for it offers the most meat.
The cracklings were indeed crispy and not greasy at all. But it was a bit too dry. I would have loved this more with vinegar. An ala carte order of Cracklings cost PHP35.
I was pleased with the serving size of Chaco. It was pretty big and filling.
The taco sauce was good. It had that slight zesty kick which I love. It would have been better though if there were more greens, corn and cheese as there were not much when I got to my last bites of the taco.
I also found its breaded chicken taco shell too greasy. It was cloying and I could barely finish half of it. I guess one whole order's a bit too much for me.
I think I'll stick with my KFC favorites for now.
