Hello, Via Mare.
Via Mare is one of my go-to restaurants whenever I feel like having palitaw or bibingka. I also didn't have to wait for the holidays for me to indulge in a plate or two of puto bumbong.
I decided to order all three when I found out that its Capitol Commons branch opened.
I called the branch and placed my order in advance so that I could ask for a curbside pick up instead of waiting for the food at the restaurant.
I love that Via Mare made sure that my order was ready by the time our driver dropped by. It is best to prepare the exact amount or inform Via Mare beforehand if you'll be needing change so that it would be a quick pickup, lessening everyone's exposure.
It was a good thing that I ordered two servings of Palitaw (PHP90 per order) as it seemed smaller than before. It was generously topped though with grated coconut, sugar, and sesame seeds.
Via Mare's palitaw is still one of the best for me!
Think of thick glutinous rice with addictive chewy texture topped with sugar and sesame seed mix. That's love in kakanin (glutinous rice) form!
Bibingka (PHP180) was good too. It was fluffy and beautifully complemented by the salted duck egg bits. Best to pop this in the oven and enjoy it warm.
I wish I could say the same for its Puto Bumbong (PHP110 per order). It was a bit dry for my liking. It was far from what I remember it to be. But heating it and topping it with butter made it a lot better.
I enjoyed my palitaw so much that I ordered again two days later. However, the landline was down. I called its Tomas Morato branch instead. And it was a great move as they gave me the number of Capitol Common's restaurant's supervisor. I was so happy that she was quick to reply and let me order via Viber instead.
I can't wait to order again soon!
