Hello, Malongo Atelier Barista Café.
With its 85 years of expertise, it is not surprising for Malongo to be one of the sought after coffee brands by taste makers. The family firm grew from a small coffee roastery in Nice, France and into a global leader in fair trade coffees and bio-coffees. And last year, its Malongo Atelier Barista Café has finally reached Asia and opened its first in Manila. But it wasn't until it opened its BGC branch when I got a sip of Malongo's famous coffee.
Tucked behind One Bonifacio High Street Mall, one could easily miss this coffee joint. But walking alongside the mall's facade will leave you attracted to the enticing aroma of its coffee.
I haven't had much for lunch so I was afraid to order something strong as it would definitely make my tummy ache. I was not in the mood for chocolate or tea so I went with Café Latte (PHP180 | PHP200) instead. Malongo offers flavored Café Latte but it is basically just the barista adding syrup (vanilla, hazelnut, etc.) to your drink. Since it'll just make my drink sweeter and it's added calories, I opted to go with the basic one.
There weren't a lot of customers during my visit so my drink was served in less than 10 minutes. I was delighted to see that my drink even had this cute latte art that veered away from the usual heart, swan or leaf. My drink also comes with a single pack of Speculoos.
Taste-wise, its Café Latte has a very light flavor. I wasn't able to fully enjoy the taste of caffeine which is most likely my fault too given my choice.
Service on the other hand was great. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I just hope that they are like that too when the café is packed with customers.
Ambiance is very conducive for meetings or catch up session with friends. There are a handful of small tables and a long communal table in the middle. The area with best light though is the bar by the counter.
I'd definitely drop by again and try its other coffee selection and pastries as well.
