Hello, Choi Garden.
We dropped by Choi Garden last Thursday to grab a few dishes for dinner. But we were surprised to know that we can't order roast pork to go.
Since we were already there, R and I decided to just stay after securing one of the last tables for dinner service.
As we were ordering, R spotted that Choi Garden has a current tie up with BDO where you get 50% off your bill with a minimum purchase of PHP5,000 (drinks excluded).
We initially ordered Roast Meat Combination (PHP890 small | PHP1,780 medium | PHP2,670 large), Spinach with Seafood Beancurd Soup (PHP610 small | PHP915 medium | PHP1,220 large) and Hot Taho (PHP130 | PHP190 | PHP380). But when R's parents decided to join us for dinner, we opted to add more so that we could avail the promo. We got Soy Chicken (PHP445 1/4 | PHP890 1/2 | PHP1,780 large), Sweet and Sour Pork (PHP440 small | PHP660 medium | PHP880 large), Cured Meat Rice in Pot (PHP840 small | PHP1,260 medium | PHP1,680 large), Dried Scallop with Broccoli (PHP500 small | PHP750 medium | PHP1,000 large) and Crispy Fried Pigeon (PHP715).
Our small bowl of soup is great for sharing. It could serve 6 bowls.
It was rather chilly that night and the soup was just perfect to keep us warm. I loved the thick soup even more with black vinegar for that lovely tangy kick.
The Roast Meat Combination is great for those who can't decide on which roast meat to get. One order comes with roast pork, chicken and duck.
Choi Garden's roast meats were superb! I loved the roast pork best which had that divine crunchy skin. Make sure to dip it in mustard for a nice contrast in flavor.
I'm not a big fan of fried pigeon as I always found it to be too skinny. It was tasty though.
Soy Chicken was good too. But I had better soy chicken in other restaurants. Better to stick with roast duck or pork here.
Choi Garden's Sweet and Sour Pork sure hit the spot. Its sweet and savory flavors made it an instant favorite. This is best enjoyed with rice to balance its bold taste.
My other favorite that night was the plate of Dried Scallops with Broccoli. It had a delicate flavor that complemented the other dishes.
Our server told us that our clay pot takes an hour to prepare. We still ordered it anyway thinking that an hour won't be so bad. But it actually took way longer. We were already done with our meal and the rice was still being cooked. We ended up having it picked up by the driver an hour after we left.
I was so excited for dessert as I get to indulge in my favorite taho. However, I had no idea that the small tub of taho was too small for sharing. I could finish the whole thing myself! At least the serving of sago was generous.
Note that this promo has a cap of PHP5,000 discount or PHP10,000 maximum total food bill using your BDO Mastercard. Promo runs from September 2 to 30, 2019.
