Hello, Hong Kong Little Kitchen.
Hong Kong Little Kitchen is one dainty shop tucked inside New Manila serving roast meats, noodle soup and other popular dishes you'd find in Hong Kong. I was in for a treat last Saturday when this restaurant spoiled me with some of its bestsellers.
I couldn't drop by its store due to my chaotic schedule so this New Manila hidden gem offered to have its food delivered instead.
Our weekend lunch spread was made of Roasted Duck Rice (PHP280), HK Barbecue Rice (PHP200), Pork Buns (PHP145, 3 pieces), Beef Kenchi Noodles (PHP228) and Spicy Shrimp Wonton (PHP248).
Hong Kong Little Kitchen's pork buns were delicious! It was the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors.
I also loved the light crisp of the bun which I found quite addictive!
This is a strong contender for the best pork bun in town!
I can't help but be so impressed with my bowl of Beef Kenchi Noodles. The noodles were still at its best despite sitting for over an hour! (It took half an hour for the food to be delivered and another 30 minutes for me to shoot.) A light tug would untangle the noodles which I've never experienced with other take out noodles! Great job on that!
The light broth was perfect to direct one's focus on the meat. However, I think I made the food wait too long as the thin slices of beef were a bit tough and dry. Nonetheless, it was still good and its beefy flavor made the dish rich and hearty. Hong Kong Little Kitchen's noodle soups are also available with spicy broth.
The Spicy Shrimp Wonton was good as well. Generously topped with spices, I had to scrape off some before taking a bite.
But it wasn't spicy at all. Or I missed some of the chili? Nonetheless, it was yummy!
One bite of the Roast Duck Rice brought me back to Hong Kong. This could be attributed to the restaurant's high standards. All of Hong Kong Little Kitchen's ducks are imported from Hong Kong. These are then marinated and cooked just like how Hong Kongers/Cantonese prepare their goose and are freshly chopped on the day it will be served. I've read that this is one of the main reasons why Hong Kong Little Kitchen gained so much loyal patrons after a short period. It offers genuine flavors of Hong Kong in Manila. Just be prepared for long queues and a chance to miss the last duck.
Don't forget its plum sauce for that delightful sweet note!
Its HK Barbecue Rice was superb! It's definitely bang for the buck at PHP200. I loved how each strip had this bright glaze and every bite was oozing with sweet and salty flavors. It was also charred to perfection!
To date, Hong Kong Little Kitchen doesn't offer delivery. But you may have your orders picked up via Lalamove or Grab. Just coordinate with Hong Kong Little Kitchen beforehand and settle payment prior to pick up.
I can't wait to visit its beautiful shop soon and try its barley drink (my ultimate favorite drink) along with the roast meats I grew to love. Or maybe I'll arrange a pick up!
Thank you, Hong Kong Little Kitchen for the delicious meal!
