First Bite: Mihimihi

I hardly go out these days as I find Manila's traffic unbearable. But when I do, I see to it that I get to visit at least one new restaurant. And I was so thrilled when I accidentally discovered Mihimihi on my way home.

Hello, Mihimihi.
Mihimihi is a popular bakeshop from Guangzhou, China known for its eclair-shaped French puff pastries that come in different flavors and fillings. I've seen its shop a few times but our jam-packed Canton Fair schedule doesn't really allow me to explore the city that much. Luckily, these raved about baked goodies found its way to Manila. It opened its first store in SM Fairview last March and its second one opened in SM Megamall just a few weekends ago.
Since I rarely visit SM Megamall and I've been away from Manila for weeks, I was a bit out of the loop on which brands are coming in or which stores are opening where. But when I spotted Mihimihi on my way home, I did a fast version of the moonwalk and went straight to the counter.
I was a bit worried with ordering as I already have a ride just around the corner to pick me up. But the friendly staff assured me that my order Strawberry Kiwi Fruit Tea (PHP89) and Vanilla French Puff (PHP99) are quick to prepare and that I'll have my orders ready before the car gets to the mall entrance.
True enough, I did get my orders in under 3 minutes.
I couldn't help myself from taking a bite off the French puff while taking photos and it took a whole lot of will power to stop at one bite. It was so good! That one bite made me hear sweet angels sing accompanied by harps. The crunch from the puff was spot on and I was impressed that it kept such texture despite soaking in vanilla cream for about half an hour. (I took more photos of my puff when I got home.)
The cream had that light sweetness to it that could make anyone want a few more puffs.
I wish I could share the same love with my drink but it fell short. In fact, it fell flat.
It tasted quite artificial. I just could not pinpoint if it was because of the flavoring Mihimihi used or if it's because of the popping boba which I am not very fond of.

Mihimihi also serves milk tea so I'll try that one next time along with all the other French puff flavors.

Note: Mihimihi has an ongoing promo where its French Puffs are at PHP80 and fruit tea drinks are at PHP70.

Mihimihi is located at Ground Floor, Building A, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City.
