Hello, Paradise Dynasty.
Known for its Specialty Dynasty Xiao Long Bao, Paradise Dynasty launched four new dishes that would tickle your taste buds with glee.
We started off with some Xiao Long Bao (Signature Original, PHP298 | 10 pieces and Specialty Dynasty, PHP388) to whet our appetites and as always, it does the trick! I just had to exert a bit of effort not to go crazy and have more than 2.
A couple plates of my favorite Lettuce Roll with Homemade Sesame Sauce (PHP288) were also served and it never fails to make me smile with its fresh taste and crunchy texture!
Pair it with the flavorful sesame sauce and you have a stellar starter!
Soon, the new dishes made its way to our table and we first indulged in Deep-fried Duck with Steamed Bun (PHP1,288).
Served with steamed mantao buns, Hoisin sauce and julienned cucumber, the half roast duck gets deboned in front of us and we have an option for the server to stuff our buns or for us to do it ourselves.
Some of us opted to have the friendly staff generously stuff our buns while others did it their way. I had R make mine.
The first bun I had was a bit dry. It turns out that I got the edge which didn't really had much meat. But my second bun instantly wiped my frown away with its juicy chunk of roast duck. The duck was actually flavorful as is but topping it with Hoisin sauce gives the savory meat a slight sweet taste.
Hearing that the Grilled Grouper with Tofu in Mapo Tofu Style (PHP1,288) is cooked with Sichuan peppercorns made me gulp with fear. I've visited Sichuan province before and the place was filled with the aroma of various spices with Mala as the most popular choice. And it was a struggle to eat those mouthwatering dishes as I get too full from all the juice and water I had to drink to keep myself sane.
Though this seafood dish from Paradise Dynasty is far from the ones I got to eat in Chongqing, it was still too spicy for my liking. I couldn't eat it without rice and drink beside me. But unlike the crazy hot dishes I've had before, this one was more than just spicy. You could also taste the subtle sweet taste coming from the fresh grouper and the sauce.
If you're a fan of anything sweet and sour, you would definitely enjoy Grouper with Pine Nuts and Fruits (PHP1,288).
This bright orange lapu-lapu is nothing short of scrumptious! Each bite was oozing in bold flavors from the fish, nuts and fruits. A beautiful medley of sweet, sour and savory flavors play in one's mouth making it very tempting to grab a cup of rice or two.
And for all pork lovers, this plate of Shanghai Style Braised Pork Belly (PHP588) is a must order dish! Sweet, tender and everything good in between, this new dish stole my heart and a big portion of my tummy.
Similar to the classic hongshao rou of China sans the clay pot, this stellar dish is very flavorful and great with rice. I didn't even feel a tiny bit of guilt from feasting on the fatty meat. It was that good!
We capped our meal with Charcoal Custard Lava Bun (PHP188/3 pieces) and Steamed Glutinous Rice stuffed in Red Dates (PHP238). Both are actually starters too but could double as desserts.
And to be honest, I prefer these dishes as latter. And as always, both were great. (You could check my previous review of Paradise Dynasty's xiao long bao, Charcoal Custard Lava Bun and Steamed Glutinous Rice stuffed in Red Dates here.)
It was yet another hearty meal at Paradise Dynasty. The new dishes were fantastic and I love that the prices, just like its other dishes, are pocket friendly. You definitely get more than what you pay for here.
Paradise Dynasty is located at 2nd Floor, Podium Mall, ADB Avenue, Pasig City.
