Love at First Bite: Sugarbee

"If you're sosyal, you'd know Sugarbee." It was a brief introduction given to us by S when we stepped inside Sugarbee's SM Megamall store. True enough, if you frequent Manila Polo Club, you'd be familiar with this cake haven.

Hello, Sugarbee
Hailed by Spot.ph as one of the best cake brands in the city, Sugarbee has a strong fan base even before its first store opened. Born from Ms. Jenny Silayan's passion for baking, Sugarbee is now available in BGC, Makati and now, Ortigas.
Sandwiched between buffet place Dads-Kamayan-Saisaki and Coco Fresh, Sugarbee's store in SM Megamall has pretty good foot traffic. You might just have to cut through the long queue of milk tea fans to see the display chiller of Sugarbee. But I guarantee you that it'll be love at first sight (and bite).
The first thing that greeted me was one of the staff offering us samples of Sugarbee's Sansrival Chips (PHP150 | PHP250 | PHP350). It's the crunchy and chewy part of sans rival and it tasted great! It had the right level of sweetness and had that delectable nutty flavor.
The cake fest started right after and we sampled almost all the flavors Sugarbee offers.
Its Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake (PHP420, 6" | PHP550, 8" | PHP1,000, 9", 2 layers) is one of Sugarbee's bestsellers and one bite would convince you why foodies are in love with this velvety goodness. Each forkful is packed with rich chocolate taste with an addictive crunch from amber hued salt crystals.
R fell head over heels in love with Dulce de Leche Chocolate Cake (PHP420, 6" | PHP550, 8" | PHP1,000, 9", 2 layers). One may think that this cake is extremely sweet but believe me, it isn't. Its not-so-sweet dulce de leche topping gave this moist chocolate cake an extra milky taste that would make anyone want more.
If you want something extra moist and milky, go for Ube Milk Cake (PHP420, 6" | PHP550, 8" | PHP800, 9"). This ube flavored tres leches is like having a gulp of milk in every mouthful!
The Sansrival Cake (PHP800) was good too. It wasn't very sweet and packed with crunch. I think I could easily finish a mini version of this (price ranges from PHP120-150 for personal size cakes).
Health conscious foodies would enjoy Sugarbee's Sugarfree Carrot Cake (PHP550, 6" | PHP800, 9"). Don't worry, it doesn't taste like salad!
And if you want to play it safe, you could always go with Red Velvet (PHP650, 8").
Other surprise favorites of mine are Mango and Coconut Cakes. These have lighter flavors perfect with tea!
There's also this Lava Cake a la mode which is definitely a must try!

You can also score its Slice of Cake and Tea/Coffee treat for just PHP150 which R and I think is an awesome and bang for the buck deal!

Sugarbee is located at 4th Floor, Building A, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City.
