Meet Delivery Guy.
Delivery Guy is the newest food delivery service perfect for those who want to stay put at home or wherever they are. Unlike other food delivery services in the market, Delivery Guy has three platforms to choose from -- landline (488-7676), website (www.deliveryguy.ph) and mobile application (Delivery Guy, available in App Store and Google Play).
I was invited to the media launch of Delivery Guy last June 28 at ASPACE Philippines in Makati. And they sure came up with a fun way for us to experience the app.
While waiting for the program to start, we enjoyed some great drinks from Proudly Promdi.
I tried Mestiza which had sweeter notes.
We were all asked to download the Delivery Guy app and actually order a dish or two with the PHP500 voucher they gave us. I was assigned to Illustrado and I went with Smoked Boneless Bonuan Milkfish (PHP385).
Since my order was below the minimum purchase of PHP500 (this applies to all restaurants under Delivery Guy), I was charged an extra Below Minimum Charge fee of PHP75. And given that my order will come from Intramuros Manila, there's also an Off Zone Charge of PHP100 (outside the 3 kilometer radius) on top of the Delivery Fee of PHP38.50 putting my total to PHP598.5. The PHP500 discount voucher only works for the food order and does not apply to the other charges hence making my total PHP213.5.
There's a time stamp on the order confirmation and a map as well to track your order. And I was impressed that my order, despite the rush hour, arrived on time.
Illustrado has been a favorite of mine for years. But its location discourages me to be a patron. Thankfully, I could get my local food fix without having to brave the traffic.
I was surprised with the hefty dish that was handed to me. My order came with a generous cup of rice, atsara, two sunny side up eggs and a fatty milkfish. My request for vinegar was also delivered.
And taste-wise, it was absolutely delicious! The smoked milkfish had the right level of saltiness and went very well with the pickled papaya and eggs. It was also big enough to be shared by two. In my case, I had it for lunch and dinner.
I have to admit, all the extra charges made my order expensive. The charges almost amounted to the food I ordered which was borderline ridiculous. But this guy has something up his sleeves.
Delivery Guy partnered with Project Liwanag where a certain amount goes to the young NGO for every Delivery Guy app downloaded. If you're wondering what Project Liwanag is all about, it's an innovative organization that empowers indigenous communities by providing them renewable energy to have light as well as other basic necessities such as education and an avenue or platform to government assistance. So you don't just get the food you like, you also help a community.
One more thing Delivery Guy offers is its curated list of restaurants. If you dislike browsing or looking at list after list of restaurants, then this is the platform for you. Goodbye online clutter!
They will be adding more restaurants in the coming months and aim to reach a triple digit number by the end of the year.
