Hello, Katsu Sora.
Katsu Sora is one of the best spots to get quality pork cutlets and I was glad that the Tefal team treated us there for dinner after the launch of its spherical pot rice cooker.
We giddily walked towards its Glorietta branch and went straight to its salad bar. I went with shredded cabbage, cucumber and tomatoes swimming on roasted sesame sauce. My tonkatsu set of Kurobuta Pork (PHP575) was served right after.
While I found my lightly battered pork crunchy and juicy, one of my companions found it too dry for his liking. Perhaps the frying was not consistent or I happen to be a lucky guest?
I usually enjoy my pork cutlet without any of the thick sauce first so that I could enjoy its flavor to the fullest and it was good! The oil used to fry was fresh and didn't leave any unpleasant after taste or residue to the tongue. I also liked its meaty flavor and tender texture.
Since the katsu was big, I'd find myself slurping miso soup in between as a nice break.
Juugokokumai Rice (15 grain rice, a great alternative to brown rice) was also part of the set. Take time to savor this cup of rice as only one serving of this comes with the set and the next refill will be your usual Japanese white rice.
Don't forget to cap your meal with fresh fruits from the salad bar.
Overall, it was another good meal. Though Katsu Sora's katsu set may be considered a bit on the expensive side, its wider selection of greens and premium meat make it bang for the buck.
