Looks can be deceiving and names do too. Who would have thought that Gelatofix offers more than gelato?
Hello, Gelatofix Lifestyle Cafe!
Conveniently located near Seda BGC and High Street, I can't believe that I never passed by this dessert haven till last week.
The first thing I noticed when I stepped in were the display chillers showcasing well-curated gelato flavors and some picturesque sushi gelato. I have to admit, I got very excited for dessert. But we were there for more than just sweets.
We were spoiled with several savory dishes and we started off with Quattro Formaggi (PHP305).
This thin crust pizza topped with mozzarella, white cheese, emmental and cheddar cheese was oozing with flavor. This is what quattro formaggi should be--cheesy. It is best to eat this warm for the perfect texture.
I tried Spaghetti Prawn Apricot (PHP325) next and liked it too. The pasta was al dente and the sauce had a light flavor which made me eat more. Put a bit of Parmesan cheese for extra flavor if you prefer stronger taste.
I wasn't too crazy with the Risotto al Fungi (PHP325). Though it was generously topped with shiitake and button mushrooms and that the flavor was spot on, I didn't like the texture of the risotto that much.
The Chef's Special Italian Beef Stew (PHP455) is one must order dish! Succulent with a bit of tangy taste, well complemented by creamy mashed potato and salted greens, this dish won my heart and tummy.
Though a tad salty if eaten without mashed potatoes, I would finish an order in no time.
Big Bird (PHP295) transported me back to Taiwan with its perfectly fried breaded chicken breast. It was rich in flavor that you can enjoy it without pouring or dipping it in gravy or syrup. The rice it went with was great too.
Spaghetti Carbonara (PHP275), just like Spaghetti Prawn Apricot, was light in flavor. You might want to hold on that Parmesan cheese for it.
Another favorite of mine was Croque Madame (PHP275). I wasn't able to try this fresh from the kitchen as I was busy sampling the other dishes. But even when cold, it was still pretty good. The mozzarella covered bread stuffed with smoked ham and topped with sunny side up egg is definitely something I'd love to have for breakfast or afternoon snack!
I got excited when the server asked us if we want to see magic. She then proceeded to serve the Toast Mango-Lato (PHP450). She removed half of the stack and it turned out that the bottom was hallow and filled with melted chocolate. She then showed us how to enjoy it-- by getting a toasted cube, dipping it in chocolate and topping it with gelato and fruits.
Though good, I liked plain gelato more. I got one of the chocolate variants and fell in love with it. It was creamy, rich and slightly dark.
For my drink, I tried Blueberry Yogurt Frappe (PHP180) which was amazingly good! I liked it a lot. It was sweet yet had that nice tangy taste from yogurt. One order can be filling though so it's best to pair this with a light meal or snack.
Will I visit again? Definitely. I need more of Gelatofix's Big Bird Platter!
