First Bite: Fritöss

I usually grab popcorn or hotdog whenever I watch a movie. But I discovered a new alternative that could make my monthly ritual more interesting.

Hello, Fritöss
This inviting quick bites place is part of the group that manages Barcino and Bluesmith Coffee & Kitchen. As no stranger to the food scene, it offers mouthwatering snacks perfect for that in between meals treat.
Located near Greenbelt 3's cinema, one can easily grab some of Fritöss' delectable snacks before catching the latest flick. Here's a rundown of the treats I've sampled during my visit:
If you are in the mood for a snack that could also serve as lunch or dinner, you might want to get Swedish Meatballs (PHP210). This breaded meatballs mixed with onions, herbs and spices, served with fries on the side, could definitely satisfy the grumpy tummy. The contrast between the crunchy breading and the juicy and flavorful meatball was lovely. I'm not sure if it would have been yummier with the dip as I got scared when one foodie reacted that it was spicy.
Cheese lovers would definitely enjoy Double Cheese Balls (PHP190). The golden brown balls stuffed with American Cheddar and Mozzarella tickled my taste buds with its sharp cheese taste. I liked it as is but it was also great with the marinara sauce. I wouldn't mind getting fat eating these balls! Careful though as the melted cheese could be very hot. Munch with caution.

If you don't mind being extra messy, do try Fritöss' Salted Egg Wings and Buffalo Wings (PHP210 each).
The salted egg wings were great. It had nice grainy texture to it and a beautiful blend of salty and creamy taste. I didn't try dipping it in the sauce it was served with anymore as it was flavorful as is.
I was intimidated by the bright color of the buffalo wings so I skipped it. (My tolerance for spicy food is very low so I try to avoid it than suffer.)
I was mesmerized by the beautiful chicken burger served to us and I took a bite without hesitation.
It turned out to be Sriracha Chicken Sandwich (PHP250) and packed with sriracha mayo. Thankfully, it was not very spicy as the thick breaded chicken, slaw, pickles and pretzel bun somehow offset the heat. Just like the wings, this one was messy to eat.
If you want something easier to eat, you might want to consider Fritöss' Calamari (PHP190). Though it didn't really taste anything special, it would be a nice alternative to your usual movie snacks.
For dessert, we sampled Cookie Dough Batterballs (PHP150) and it was your sinful unfinished cookies fried and topped with ice cream. It was pretty good and I'd love to have more of this after a heavy meal or after indulging on some Double Cheese Balls.
Overall, it was a pleasant visit. Servers were very accommodating of our requests and food was good and affordable. I'm just not sure if they have nice take out boxes perfect for movie goers. Perhaps I have to visit again to find out.

Fritöss is located at 3rd Floor, Greenbelt 3, Ayala Center, Makati City.
