Hello, Wagyupsal.
Wagyupsal opened a few months ago in the foodie haven Kapitolyo.
The store's blend of colorful murals, industrial finished walls and touches of gold would make Instagram loving foodies go wild.
It currently offers a special deal for its unlimited meats at PHP399 | Unlimited Pork, PHP499 | Unlimited Beef and Pork, PHP799 | Unlimited Wagyu, Beef, Pork, Tempura and Wagyu Fried Rice. Based on its menu, it only offers Unlimited Beef and Pork at PHP499 and Unlimited Wagyu at PHP899. I'm just not sure if they still offer Unlimited Pork after its promo.
We were treated to a feast by Wagyupsal and we got to try its Unlimited Wagyu package.
The sides alone are enough to stuff you so make sure to prioritize which ones to indulge in.
My favorite banchan are fish cakes and chicken salad.
Unlimited Wagyu package allows you to sample 10 types of meat (3 pork, 4 beef and 3 wagyu). For pork, there's classic samgyupsal (pork belly), pork bacon (thinner cut of samgyupsal), pork bulgogi and spicy pork belly. For beef, options are woo samgyup (beef belly), beef bulgogi and spicy beef belly. And for wagyu, you get bolar blade, top round and chuck eye roll. Aside from getting to sample more meats, you also get the crowd favorite tempura as part of your spread. Also, you get to enjoy your meats with wagyu fried rice!
For some reason, the beef and pork strips taste almost the same for me. I could barely tell the difference aside from the appearance especially when I dip it in cheese.
And speaking of cheese, go crazy with this as it's also unlimited and it makes the meat taste extra yummy! Don't worry about it overwhelming your taste buds as the cheese dip is mild in flavor.
I was looking forward to feast on the wagyu cuts but I was a bit underwhelmed by it. I wasn't really expecting much from it given its price point but the thicker cut wagyu was just okay.
The wagyu fillet cut was so much better so request for extra plates of this one instead!
If you have kids, this set is perfect as its tempura would be a hit for the kiddos!
Drinks are not included in the set but Wagyupsal offers soft drinks and the staple soju to pair with your K-BBQ!
I'm a bit torn if I should go for Unlimited Beef and Pork or Unlimited Wagyu on my next visit as I feel that the former is already a good deal. I get flavorful meats and scrumptious side dishes but have to forgo wagyu fillet, tempura and wagyu fried rice. What do you think?
P.S. Go for the tables far from the entrance as D Strip's waste management seems to be a mess. There's a strong stench near the door and windows. Though you get those IG-worthy photos, the smell might make you lose your appetite. Also, be careful of the oil splashes! The ventilation is a bit weird and blows smoke to one side of the table and leaves the person sitting there in tears.
