Two months passed since the start of Manila's lockdown. But I don't miss dining out at all as most of my favorites are just a call or a few clicks away. One thing I didn't expect to munch on during ECQ is the roast pig from the Pinoy favorite, Lydia's Lechon.
Hello, Lydia's Lechon.
Lydia's Lechon launched Lechon in a Box a few months ago which was an instant hit. And to make things more interesting (and yummier), Lydia's came up with something to delight us during the ECQ-- Family Boxes.
The Family Boxes are Lechon in a Box 2.0 where you get other Lydia's Lechon favorites in one order. There are 4 boxes to choose from with prices ranging from PHP900 to PHP1,100, each good for 4 to 6 persons.
I had Box A (PHP900) which had 1/2 kilo Lechon, 5 pieces of Pork Barbecue, and Mixed Pancit. It also came with packets of Lydia's Lechon sauce and spiced vinegar for the skewers.
The Family Box was nicely packed. The box was lined with banana leaves and there were aluminum dividers too.
Pork Barbecue was tender and flavorful. Each stick had a generous serving of meat. One stick would be enough to satisfy your barbecue cravings.
I loved Mixed Pancit. I always have a soft spot for pancit bihon and I didn't mind it being mixed with canton.
It would have been better though if there were crunchy pork bits for extra texture and flavor. But the crisp fresh veggies gave it a nice bite.
The lechon meat was succulent. I wished the skin was crisp when it arrived. It seemed that it was packed fresh from the roaster leaving it not as crunchy as desired. But popping some in the oven would solve that.
Here are the boxes available:
