My eyes turn to hearts every time I get word that there's a new coffee shop in town. But those hearts get broken into pieces when I find out that these cafes are not exactly near or impossible to get to with the current traffic situation. Luckily, being a full time blogger now allows me to be visit areas during less busy hours and I finally got to visit Fundamental Coffee.
Hello, Fundamental Coffee.
I almost missed this coffee shop as I thought it is inside Glorietta. However, it is actually located at the ground floor of Park Terraces across Glorietta 2. It was a good thing that it wasn't raining when I dropped by as it would have been a bit difficult if it was drizzling.
I was greeted by a modern industrial space with a menu board that looks like the ones you see in old school theaters and chapels.
I asked for the bestsellers and decided to go with Chicken and Cheese Toast (PHP195) and a cup of Old Fashioned Cappuccino (PHP135).
The place was pretty packed at 3 p.m. so I had no choice but to enjoy my coffee by the bar table against the window. At least I get natural light for my photos.
It took around 10 minutes before my coffee was served and another 10 minutes for my toast. Though it was quite a long wait compared to other cafes I've been to, I didn't mind it at all as its fast internet kept me entertained.
I was pleasantly surprised to see my cappuccino torched and be served like creme brulee. And it was done not just for show. It tasted great!
Though it may be a bit too sweet for some coffee lovers, I really enjoyed this cup of happiness. The crystallized sugar added texture to the drink making it stand out from other cappuccinos.
The Chicken and Cheese toast was pretty good as well.
It may be steep for a single toast but it was quite filling. The toast had a generous topping of flavorful chicken chunks with cheese filling the gap. It also went very well with my drink.
I can't wait to head back to try the other savory dishes. I'll also try Fundamental Coffee's flat white next time.
Fundamental Coffee is located at Ground Floor, Park Terraces Tower 1, Parkway Drive corner West Street, San Lorenzo, Makati City.
