One Cheesy Sunday: Elbert’s Cheesesteak Sandwiches

I always frequent Rockwell ever since my internship days in one of the companies nearby and one of the things I noticed was that it houses several good restaurants. I promised myself to try all of the restaurants. So far, I have visited 19 food establishments there and one Sunday afternoon, I was in the mood for sandwiches.
My sister and I were on our way to the Rockwell Tent to visit the Moonlit Bazaar (again on that same weekend) as I was on the lookout for a costume for a Christmas party. Since we ate lunch pretty early, our tummies were grumbling at exactly 4pm.

I had my eyes on the sandwich place with pink neon lights for the longest time. I often pass by it whenever we were on our way to the parking lot but I never got the chance to try it till my sister and I craved for something light yet filling (if there was such a thing).

Finally, Elbert’s Cheesesteak Sandwiches!
My sister and I stared at the monitor right beside the counter for the menu. Clueless of what to order, we read the whole thing till the monitor started to flash something else. MY EYES!!!

Then we saw that there was a menu right on the counter. We felt… uhm, unaware of our surroundings (sounds better right?). My sister decided to order the Elbert’s Burger with American Cheese with fries and drink of her choice (PHP310) while I went with Tuna Melt with American Cheese and upgraded it as well so that it could come with fries and a drink (PHP280).
Service was quick as we got our orders in less than 5 minutes. It took me some effort to convince my sister to hand to me her sandwich as she was really hungry. But here’s a photo of her quite tall burger.

I managed to take a small bite and all I could say was that the burger was quite flavorful. The patty was indeed juicy. I think it would have been better if my sister did not ask the server to remove the onions for additional crunch. Well, the rustic roll alone was enough but my ears were craving for more noise.
My Tuna Melt on the other hand was (according to the menu) “made from GenSan Yellow Fin Tuna in premium mayo and served in rustic roll”. It was pretty good. The cheese and tuna went well together. I noticed that the tuna was quite juicy as well. It was like a mini “Part of your World” number inside your mouth.
As for the fries, it was nothing special but I love the fact that it was made from real potatoes and not those frozen ones. It was a good ‘ol thigh enlarging comfort food that almost everyone loves and hates at the same time.

I will go back to try their bestsellers soon.

Elbert’s Cheesesteak Sandwich is located at Level P1 of Power Plant Mall, Rockwell Center, Makati City.

  2. Telai, I "try" to eat less on weekdays so that I could eat a lot over the weekends as I have a food trip every weekend. I actually went on a diet for 3 days (can't last more than that) last week so that I'd look better in my costume. Hahaha. Food is LOVE!
