Friday Love: T.G.I. Friday's

It has been almost two years in the making but finally—I’m getting married! Not. My friends and I have been planning to have an overnight get together for years now as the last time we did that was when we graduated a few years back. We decided to stay at Eastwood Richmonde Hotel but had no plans to dine there for dinner as we were still on a non-executive salary. *gloom*

It was almost 9 p.m. and most of us came from work or elsewhere without food in our tummies except for K. Just like a group of tweens, we waited for everyone before deciding where to have dinner.

After putting our bags inside our “unlocked” room (scary!), we decided to have dinner at T.G.I. Friday’s. The place was quite packed so the server who served us suggested that we go al fresco dining but we hesitated as 1) none of my friends smoke; 2) it was hot that day. We then requested for the corner table available at the second floor.

Starved, we quickly ordered something. I ordered the Cajun Shrimp and Chicken Pasta (PHP415 regular; PHP625 for sharing) and Strawberry Lemonade Slush (PHP165). B ordered Chicken Club Sandwich (PHP395), while N settled for Jack Daniel’s Burger (PHP465). K, M, and L were still full so they just ordered Oreo Madness (PHP205 for one piece and PHP345 for two pieces). I still remember how hyper our server, Rentin, was. It was his second day if I remember it correctly and he even apologized about sweating too much as he was just eager to serve us. (Funny fellow.)
They quickly served my drink and it was delightful! Sweet yet still refreshing!

Good Mood Food: Arby's

Don’t you just hate it when you realize that you only have a few vacation-galore days left and that you still have a lot of things to do, explore, and most especially, eat? It happened to me during my 3 week vacation, 4 days before flying back to Manila.
ACK! That was the only word, uh, sound, that came out of my mouth when I realized that I still have a lot of places to check and food to eat. There was still IHOP, Arby’s, Denny’s, and so much more!!!
I just have to cross at least half of it off my list. I JUST HAVE TO. Thus, with much begging comes great appetite. After eating dinner at Five Guys, we passed by Arby’s so that I could finally try their famous Angus beef sandwiches.

A Date with Chuck

I just love shopping turned food trip with friends. Unexpected. Happy tummies. What’s not to love?

A friend and I planned on checking several bazaars last Saturday but food has always been a concern. “Where will we eat or have snacks?” has always been part of the plan. This time, since I hardly frequent BGC, my friend suggested having lunch at Chuck’sDeli
I’ve never been to Chuck’s Deli but I’ve heard that they serve great sandwiches thus I was so excited to finally check the place out.
We were greeted by cute blackboard walls with very nice handwriting with Christmas greetings, announcements, specials, and the names of the 5-minute challenge winners.

Craving for some Cravings’ Roast beef

Since my birthday fell on a weekend, I had a 2-day celebration. *Woohoo for my tummy but boohoo for my wallet.* On the last day of my 2-day celebration, my family and I decided to have dinner at Cravings at Shangri-la after “hunting” for a gown for my sister.
I usually order salmon but for some reason, I craved for roast beef on that day. Knowing that Cravings’ roast beef is good, I decided to order that (and I get to have Splurge on Salad for free). My sister and mom were not very hungry so they opted for club sandwich and triple cheese macaroni (and added Splurge on Salad).
I love Cravings’ salad bar. The macaroni salad is a guaranteed yummy and the veggies are always fresh. I noticed that they added nachos with salsa dip. As for the soup, it was supposed to be chicken soup but it tasted like chicken BROTH soup.

I was also disappointed with the roast beef. It was quite dry. At first I thought that it just needed more gravy but it did not help at all. The beef itself was dry. Good thing though that the mashed potato was good.

As for the club sandwich, it was quite savory. No wonder my sister is addicted to it. It is a bit hard to eat it since it is very uh… tall. But the tomato, bacon, and everything else added flavor to the sandwich which made it so good. The stick used to make the sandwich stay put was also very interesting. Normally, restaurants use toothpicks for that but Cravings use this edible thin stick (bread stick?) instead. I was so surprised when my sister munched on the stick.

We were not able to eat the triple cheese macaroni anymore since we “abused” the Splurge on Salad. But it looks and smells good. J

Verdict:
The menu has a combination of affordable and expensive dishes. It is best to order one main course to get the free Splurge on Salad than pay P290 for the eat all you can salad. The service was quite good and the ambiance is relaxing. My UA&P Alumni card is no longer valid though. So, good bye 10% discount. L
