ECQ Favorite: Merashian

With many foodies stuck at home, several were able to unleash their hidden culinary skills and were not shy with sharing it with the very active Let's Eat Pare  Facebook group. And that's where I spotted several mouthwatering bilo-bilo posts which made me crave for it. I asked our cook to make some but we were short on ingredients and couldn't find sago or glutinous rice balls despite the two grocery runs. It was timely though that I stumbled upon Merashian.

Hello, Merashian
Merashian is one of the popular home-based businesses during Manila's Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). I heard of this brand when someone from the village spearheaded mass ordering for Merashian. Its crowd favorites are its Ginataang Halo-Halo with Ube Halaya and Cheese Bilo-Bilo (PHP250, 1L | PHP350, 1.7L) and Chicken Pie (PHP600, 10 pieces).
I missed the village's mass ordering so I had no choice but to order direct. And I'm glad I did as Merashian was so nice to arrange a special order of Chicken Pie for me. I found its 10-piece tray too much so they offered a smaller pack of 3 pieces for PHP200. I got that one with my 1.7L ginataang halo-halo.
Since Merashian's pick up location is quite near to my office (it's just along D. Tuazon), I asked our driver to pick it up for me instead of relying on Grab Express or Lalamove which I found extremely hard to book these days.
I loved that my order was carefully packed. The ginataang halo-halo was tightly secured with cling wrap while the chicken pie was placed in an oven-ready aluminum container.
The largest order of ginataang halo-halo is good for 6-8 servings. It also has a generous serving of langka, sago, saba, and kamote. I found the bilo-bilo to be a bit too few for the large order though as it seemed like there were only about 10-12 pieces. But the bilo-bilo was great! It was chewy and had that delectable slight salty taste from cheese.
The chicken pie is probably one of the best I've had to date! It was chunky and very filling. Each one was filled with shredded chicken meat, potato bits, and corn. The golden-brown crust too was divine. Best to pop it in the oven for a bit to give those edges some crunch for added texture.
I now know why this shop's so popular!
