Worth it or Not: Kenny Rogers Now Offers Milk Tea

The modern Filipino anatomy now consists of at least 20% milk tea with all the boba shops out there. With an average of four cups per month splurge on this sweet beverage, it is not surprising that bigger brands are now offering it too. Recently, Kenny Rogers joined the milk tea bandwagon. And I couldn't help myself find out if it is worth it or not.

Hello, Kenny Rogers
I was strolling around Trinoma the other day and was on the mission to grab a bowl or two of salad for dinner. But instead of heading back home after buying my meal, I ended up going to Kenny Rogers. That signage of its milk tea by the escalator sure was effective as it made me take a detour!
Kenny Rogers' Wintermelon Milk Tea costs PHP100 which is far more expensive than McDonald's. But this one has pearls (though no soft serve ice cream)! You can also have its sweetness level adjusted based on your preference. I went with 100% after the cashier told me that it is best enjoyed at max sweetness level.

I had to wait for about 5 minutes before my drink was served and I was pleased that the drink was filled to the rim. The staff was game too with holding the drink for me as I take some shots. Sadly, that was the end of my happy memory with this drink.
One sip was all I need to increase my sugar level tenfold. It was too sweet that even R who has an insane tolerance for sweet stuff found this drink too much to handle. I had to add water three times to no avail.

Though the pearls were of the acceptable kind, one would expect a bit more when paying PHP100.

I highly recommend that you go to a nearby milk tea shop instead to satisfy your boba craving. Or if you are still curious to try this, make sure to go for 50% sweetness level at most.

Kenny Rogers has branches nationwide.
