Hello, Bake House Manila.
Bake House is Shangri-La at the Fort's newest food concept. It is hard to miss as it's located at the main lobby of the hotel, just at the opposite side of High Street Cafe.
The warmly lit space puts its long display counter center stage as it is the first thing you'll see once you step inside.
I had difficulty choosing just two pastries to try as I wanted to pay Raging Bull Burgers a visit too. Thankfully, the staff was patient with me and suggested some bestsellers to get me started.
I eventually went with Porchetta Quiche (PHP180) and Apple Turnover (PHP85).
I underestimated the quiche. Despite its light taste, it was actually filling and apt as breakfast or heavy afternoon snack. The smooth and soft egg filling puts the crunchy porchetta strips in the spotlight. I also enjoyed the puff pastry crust.
A part of me wanted to drizzle this with some honey for that sweet and savory contrast. I'll probably do that when I grab one to go.
Apple Turnover was impressive too. Though it didn't have that yummy apple bits you get from apple pie, the taste of apple was pronounced in this baked treat. I also liked that slight tart you get from cream cheese, if I'm not mistaken.
Before heading out, Tiffany of Shangri-La handed a box of her favorite Bake House goodies for me to try. And everything was so good!
I actually got to try most of them three days later but everything was still moist and delicious!
Its Oatmeal and Raisin cookie was probably the best I've had to date! It had that lovely chewy texture and it was not overly sweet making it an excellent snack to indulge in.
The brownie was very dense yet surprisingly not cloying. I could finish half in just a few minutes. This is best enjoyed with a cup of tea or coffee though for balance.
Needless to say, I found a new favorite spot in BGC. I'd definitely be back for more of the scrumptious baked treats.
Note: Bake House is also a great place to work or hold meetings. There are sockets everywhere!
