Sweet Find: Chez Karine

I first heard of this store from B and ever since she bought a box of macarons, I’ve been curious if it really tastes good (as B was really looking forward to buying a box of it). Months passed by and finally, I managed to grab a few macarons.

Hello, Chez Karine!

This small pastry shop has a charming feel to it. Filled with light colored items, it sure screams “cute”. I went straight to the macarons and asked the friendly server for their best sellers.
She suggested that I get the Earl Grey, Salted Caramel, Dark Chocolate and Strawberry (all macarons are priced at PHP50/each). I decided to get the first three and opted to get coffee instead of strawberry as my sister is not very fond of it.
I also bought one Muscovado Pudding (PHP100) and Mango Panna Cotta (PHP100).

As soon as we were done with dinner, I hurriedly took photos of the goodies I bought and took a bite off each.
The Earl Grey was surprisingly sweeter than expected. The tea taste wasn’t very strong but my sister really tasted it.
I guess if you love tea, you’d find the taste a bit faint.
The Dark Chocolate is divine! I just love that it wasn’t as sweet as the Earl Grey. It was slightly powdery as well. Is it perhaps the cocoa?

The Salted Caramel is also great. The Chez Karine version is a lot softer than Gourmandise’s. I prefer the crunch and the sharper taste of the latter but Chez Karine’s is also good especially for those who have a sweet(er) tooth.

Coffee is undeniably coffee. My sister told me that it reminded her of the coffee beans candy of Meiji and true enough, when I got a taste of it, it does taste like it. And I’m not complaining. For this one though, I’d have it with tea instead of coffee.
I can’t wait to go home and try the pudding and panna cotta! I’ll update this blog super soon!

Chez Karine is located at the Serendra Mall, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
