Mystery Solved: Mystery Manila's Haunted Hunt

Okay, I think I am now addicted with Mystery Manila. I have tried four mysteries in total and I still do not have my MYSTERY SOLVED shirt! (Sooo frustrating!)
I was thrilled when I found out that Mystery Manila developed two new games just for Halloween. It was priced lower at PHP300 instead of the usual PHP500 but the time was shorter as well (from one hour to 45 minutes). I didn’t mind the shorter time though as I was feeling confident (just like the last three times) that I will finally make it to the leader board.
I booked the Haunted Hunt since it sounded more interesting and I’m not much of a fan of Harry Potter anyway to try the Alchemist’s Apprentice.
When we arrived, I had no idea that the event will take place in an open space! In short, mall goers will see us go crazy solving the mystery. But… there’s a bigger surprise.

Basically, Haunted Hunt is like a scavenger hunt with a bit of Halloween elements to it. We have to find the “ghosts” located somewhere in Glorietta (not just G5 but the WHOLE GLORIETTA).
We have clues though to help us out. Can you guess the locations? We had a hard time with the last one.

Mystery Solved: Rebecca's Room

I get so excited every time I meet someone game to try Mystery Manila.  My first experience was fun and I didn’t mind being a third wheel at all. The second time around wasn’t as fun though when we tried Sinister Sensorium as I was one of the blind players. (The blind don’t get to do much and I didn’t even know that the game was over!) But things were about to change when we tried Rebecca’s Room.
I just could not contain my excitement when I read the reviews about Rebecca’s Room. It is like being in a horror movie. (Exciting!!!)
I realized though that the mystery was not a joke when “Sherlock”, our game master asked if any of us have heart problems. (Then again, I thought that he was just trying to scare us.)
So we did the drill… read an article to have a background of the mystery and be briefed on what to do inside.

When we got inside, several furniture pieces were covered in white cloth. I had fun making a mess until… WHAT THE ****!!!  (I won’t tell you what I saw!)

A  few minutes later, the lights were turned off so we relied on the flashlight that I found and the cellphone R discovered.

Detective 101: Mystery Manila

I have been going crazy over Mystery Manila and I was quite surprised that I had a hard time finding friends to drag to this fun place. Luckily, I saw a post of one of my former colleagues saying that she will go with her boyfriend. I put my thick face on and asked if I could tag along. (Yes, third/fifth/seventh wheeling is my hobby.) They agreed and as soon as we set on a date, it was game on. Woo hoo~
I think we were a bit too excited as we arrive 45 minutes before our schedule. A, being the “cool” one, suggested that we kill some time inside the car as to not look too eager. But after 20 minutes, we decided to go in.
The mystery we tried
The place was surprisingly small. I noticed that there are only three rooms and two of which are for the two stories while one serves as their office. There was also a chalkboard wall where they write down the top 10 teams with the fastest time in solving the case. A, M and I thought really hard on what our name should be and I really want the name “Do Not Erase” with the hope that they will never erase it. Anywaaaay…
We were greeted by the friendly staff and asked us where we’re from and offered some refreshments. (I had to ask if that’s a clue since I was in my detective mode as soon as I entered. Well, it was just iced tea and water. Nothing more.)
The rewards if you get to solve the mystery!!!

NEWS FLASH: Mystery Manila opens this May 2014!

I love mystery movies and just about anything that would push me to think as it makes me feel more productive even when in reality, I just munching on popcorn. I remember my Detective Conan and Psych addiction days where all I do was speculate. I even got hooked to playing Clues! So just imagine how happy I was when I discovered…

If I am not mistaken, this is the first of its kind here in Manila. It’s like one of those Murder-Mystery dinners in the US where you try to find the murderer amongst the guests.

One room.
One mystery.
One hour.
One way out.

Intriguing right? Right? Riiiiiiight?! Okay, I think I’m too hyper to blog in a calm manner. But if you are into these things, you’d understand why this makes me very giddy.

The fascinating part is that you will be locked inside a room to solve the mystery. (Think Saw the movie.) There will be clues, riddles and evidences all over the room of the mystery you chose. You will be stuck inside the room till you solve the mystery (or when you run out of time).

The objective to this game is to of course solve the mystery the fastest way possible as you get a prize after closing the case. The quicker you solve the mystery, the nicer the prizes you will get. You have to solve the mystery in under an hour to succeed. But you also have an option to try again at a discounted rate in case you didn’t finish in 60 minutes but this is of course subject to the availability of the room. To date, there are no published rates for this.
