Hello, Selfie Cafe.
This cafe is no new news when it made the headlines in the foodie community last year. It first opened in Robinsons Galleria and has captured the hearts of those who live or work within the area and those who adore novelty. I also heard that it offers good drinks on top of its quirky offering. Sadly, I found Robinsons Galleria to be out of the way whenever I'm around Ortigas. Luckily, Selfie Cafe finally found its way to Bonifacio Global City which makes it more accessible to me.
I giddily hopped my way towards the vibrant looking shop and ordered Matcha Freeze (PHP170) and added PHP20 for a selfie.
It was hard to choose a photo for my drink as most of the photos in my phone are food and not people. Thankfully, I didn't transfer yet some of my travel photos with R and I chose one of our photos together for my drink.
You could also take a photo right there at the cafe. However, I was alone when I went and a mess at that since I was out doing errands. I opted to just pick one of my available photos and sent it to the head barista via Facebook Messenger. This isn't the usual way of sending or transferring photos to them though. They mentioned a handful of photo transferring apps but I wasn't hipster enough to know any of them.
After 5 to 10 minutes, my drink was ready for pick up and one of my favorite photos was there to greet me.
One sip of my Matcha Freeze convinced me that Selfie Cafe is more than just a cute concept. It offers legit matcha! I liked that it had a nice pronounced taste of green tea and that delightful slightly rough texture. And the edible photo? It added a nice sweet taste to the drink.
I'd definitely swing by again for another round. I just have to be ready with my photo.
