Restaurant Discovery: Corner Tree Café

A has been telling me that there’s this good vegetarian restaurant along Jupiter street in Makati. I never really bothered to visit the place right away as I’m not vegetarian and I was going crazy with the number of restaurants popping here and there in Kapitolyo. But I guess I was fated to visit the said vegetarian restaurant when I went to Mystery Manila the second time around.

Hello, Corner Tree Café.
The quaint café is located at a corner hence its name. The place is pretty small too and could accommodate perhaps 20 people maximum.

J and her friends were already there when I arrived. I then hurriedly ordered as we only have less than an hour to go to Mystery Manila. I went with Vegetable Dumpling (PHP150), Spinach and Mushroom Lasagna (PHP445), Chocolate Mousse with Dark Toblerone (PHP220) and a glass of Organic Lemongrass Iced Tea (PHP99).
Service was slow. I waited for over 20 minutes before my first dish arrived.
The vegetable dumplings were your usual siomai only it had no pork in it. Instead, it had shiitake mushrooms, spinach, carrots and jicama or Mexican turnip. It was actually good and a great way to start your meal as it wasn’t that heavy.
The lasagna was good too. Stuffed with spinach, roasted bell pepper, mushroom and three different kinds of cheese, this is a must order dish! Plus, the tangy tomato sauce was divine. (Biased here as I love tomatoes… a lot!)
I loved my dessert! The Corner Tree Café made use of French cream and Felchlin Couveture chocolate to create the chocolate mousse. It was slightly pricey for the serving but definitely worth it. It was odd though that the dessert wasn’t that cold.

I will visit this place again but most likely on a day I am not in a hurry.

The Corner Tree Café is located at 150 Jupiter St, Bel-Air Village, Makati City.
