I'm a blogger. I deserve to be in this event. And hey, I deserve extra pampering too.
I'm a blogger. Where are my extra freebies?!
At times, I can't help but cringe at the thought that some bloggers think that they are way better than other people just because they keep an online diary. Anyone and everyone can be a blogger. It's so easy. But to be a good one, it takes effort. It takes integrity. It takes strong will not to be swayed by those "freebies" offered to write something you don't believe in.
Being a blogger doesn't automatically mean that one writes well. It just means that the person is confident enough, brave enough to publish his or her thoughts publicly. (And I hope has the courage too to be honest.)
Being a blogger doesn't mean that you deserve VIP treatment.
Working for a publishing company gave me an opportunity to meet amazing bloggers who can be placed in the pedestal for being the ideal bloggers. But at the same time, there are those who are unheard of and have the courage to boast that they are bloggers too and that they have all the right to be invited, get front row seats, and be waited hand and foot.
I am by no means attacking anyone in particular. I would just like to clear the concept of blogging. It is not a pass, an ID, or a freebie generator. True, if you get more page views, it could lead to that but it is never synonymous to cash or loot bags. Blogging is a venue to express one's opinions, thoughts and the like. Let's keep it that way.
