Restaurant Love: Lazy Dog Café

I miss California. I miss those humongous portions, oh-so-yummy food, gigantic supermarkets, friendly people saying hello to just about anyone, everything. While browsing my phone, I saw some photos from my last trip and a few were from my lunch date with N at the Lazy Dog Café.
I remember that it was a bit past 12 noon when N picked me up and we were famished. As soon as we got to park the car, we checked a few restaurants outside the mall (in record time) and eventually decided to have lunch at the Lazy Dog Café

The interiors are rather cute. It has a western feel as place is predominantly wooden brown. I love the cute accent on the table… a paw print.
N and I didn’t thoroughly browsed the menu and just ordered the lunch specials—Chicken Parmesan ($7.45) and Sundried Tomato Pesto Penne ($7.95). They also serve these for dinner but plus $5.

The place wasn’t packed when we were there as there were only a few tables occupied. While waiting, we got busy taking pictures of the place and ourselves.

Soon, our food arrived.

N’s chicken parmesan had a tangy taste from the marinara sauce. It was slightly gooey too because of the melted mozzarella. I enjoyed the crisp hand-breaded chickenbreast. It was well seasoned too. Overall it was a pretty satisfying dish.

My sundried tomato pesto penne was delightful as well. Also with chicken breast (not breaded though), it was topped with mushrooms, broccoli, sundried tomatoes, a few onions and drizzled with walnut pesto cream sauce.

The taste wasn’t as strong as N’s pasta but I love the different textures in the dish. It also had that slight tangy taste because of the tomatoes. I enjoyed the crunch of the broccoli and the tenderness of the chicken breast. A two thumbs up for me!

Before heading out, I went to the washroom and I fell in love… with the faucets! It is so cute!
Heading back, I noticed that the walls are filled with photos of dogs! This is definitely one place dog lovers would adore!
