Love At Second Bite: Recipes by Café Metro

It thrills me every time I get to get out of my home-work-home routine on a weekday thus when my officemates planned a movie night out (we watched The Muppets and sad to say, I wasn’t able to watch the first 20 minutes of the movie as something urgent has to be done—yes, more urgent than to save the home of the Muppets), I immediately said yes. We planned to leave the office early to have time to eat dinner. 7 p.m. clock out, game!

To cut things short, we left around 7:45 p.m.. Still pretty close to the 7 p.m. plan. Sort of close.

We were famished when we arrived and a bit panicky as well since the movie will start at 9 p.m.. Clueless on where to eat, we decided to eat somewhere near the cinema. We first tried our luck with Recipes by Café Metro. And we were lucky that night! There was an available table for our party of 6.

Since we could not wait for everyone, we started to order by batch. I ordered Gising Gising (PHP170) again since I fell in love with it. I also ordered one of their value meals, Bangus Steak with Rice and Iced Tea (PHP170). Not bad right?

The service was quick as before the next batch of A and M arrived (there were two pairs of A and M that night), our food was served. And we hardly talked as we were one, hungry; and second, in a hurry.

Hello, Gising Gising and Bangus Steak!

M1 said that the Bangus Steak lacked sauce but it seemed pretty okay with me, or perhaps because I did not know what to expect.

I just love it when I eat fish with no bones to accidentally gag you and make you create sounds similar to a gagging cat because of fur balls. The Bangus Steak was quite thick too making it value for your money and it wasn’t very salty though eating it alone (without rice) may make you want for more water. So, for those who are on a no-rice diet, better not order this as it sure goes well with rice!

I need not elaborate how much the Gising Gising woke my sleepy taste buds (okay, that was a terrible pun) but I just can’t help rave how much the coconut milk, minced pork and greens worked well together. I just love food with crunch!

Prompt service, affordable food, what’s not to like? Well, perhaps the “Dessert of the Day” as it never changes—it’s always Buko Pandan or Banana Fritters.

Recipe by Café Metro is located at the 5th Floor of Shangri-La Mall. It is right beside Secret Recipes and in front of Bayo.
