Revisiting Classics: Shakey's

Shakey's used to be my default lunch back in college. I simply cannot resist its bang for the buck Bunch of Lunch set and the famous mojos and dip! And its partnership deal with BPI enticed me to splurge a little.

Hello, Shakey's.

BPI had a yummy deal a few months ago where credit card users get a Shakey's voucher for every PHP3,000 transaction. And after a few swipes here and there, I earned enough vouchers for a meal good for four.

We decided to use the vouchers for 8" Regular Classic Pizza and got Garlic and Cheese (PHP191), Garden Fresh (PHP191) and Hawaiian (PHP261). We complemented our meal with Monster Spaghetti Meatball (PHP529, with two monster meatballs) and Chicken 'N' Mojos (PHP682, family pack).

First served was our pasta platter. I liked that the serving size was pretty generous and that they didn't scrimp on the sauce. The meatballs were indeed big and great for sharing. I love that the pasta sauce had that tangy taste and the humongous meatball added a beefy flavor to it.

The pizzas were served next and all looked rather sad. But these small treats are quite filling too! In fact, we were not able to finish all.

And yes, Garden Fresh was the last one to be devoured.

My pick was Garlic and Cheese as it's my favorite flavor in another pizza joint. But Shakey's failed to deliver the bold flavors of garlic and cheese here.

At least the basket of Chicken turned my frown back into a grin with its crunchy skin and juicy white meat. There were also enough mojos for everyone.

Overall, it was a nice comforting meal. Though the pizzas were not as good as how I remember Shakey's pizzas were before, its chicken and pasta are worth another visit.
