Now in Manila: New York's Magnolia Bakery (M Bakery)

Magnolia Bakery has been one of the well-loved iconic establishments in New York that stood the test of time. Established in 1996, it has delighted New Yorkers since and it has been one of the hottest must-visit brands when visiting the city. With long queues to greet you, one would wonder what made this bakery great. And to be honest, it was not exactly love at first bite for me. But having it the second time around sure won me over!

Hello, M Bakery
The world-famous Magnolia Bakery is finally in Manila as M Bakery.
Don't let the name fool you. Despite the difference in name, expect the same sweet treats as it offers Magnolia Bakery's signature cupcakes and its bestselling banana pudding. It even offers the same ambiance with the uncanny use of similar elements and colors.
We were in for a treat during the media preview as M Bakery prepared a scrumptious spread of their cupcakes, icebox desserts, cookies, brownies, bars and its famous banana pudding.
I'm not a big fan of cupcakes but one bite of M Bakery's red velvet made me want to buy an I Love Cupcakes shirt.
Though M Bakery's cupcakes starts at PHP120, you'd definitely get the satisfaction you're after when indulging in this treat. Each cupcake is rich, moist and most importantly, worth every penny.
And if you're new with Magnolia Bakery's offerings, start with the all time favorite Red Velvet, available with whipped vanilla or cream cheese icing. I recommend the latter.
There are also Icebox Desserts available such as this Blueberry Jamboree  made with pecan shortbread crust layered with whipped cream and cream cheese filling then topped with fresh blueberries.
M Bakery's cheesecakes are amazing too! Do get Key Lime though as they use our very own calamansi to add zest to the treat!
Or the to die for Red Velvet Cheesecake.
One of my favorites during the preview is M Bakery's heavenly Double Fudge Brownie! It is the very definition of what I call the perfect chocolate brownie. As you can derive from its name, this bar is fudgy, moist and would make every sweet lover's taste buds sing hallelujah! But what made it so perfect is the thin crisp layer on top adding this delightful contrast which won my heart and pretty much every single fiber in me.
If double fudge brownie is too much for you, give its cookies a try. The Cranberry Chocolate Chunk is like having Thanksgiving and Christmas combined! Or go classic with oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies.
But if you were to just get one item from M Bakery, go for its Banana Pudding (PHP145, small | PHP 295, medium | PHP 375, large). Priced more affordable compared to its NYC counterpart, this dessert is a must try! I have to admit, it was not love at first bite when I had it in New York a couple of years back. But I made the ultimate Magnolia Bakery mistake. I ate my banana pudding at room temperature!
This time around, I got to try it chilled and it tasted so much better! The pudding wasn't mushy and had more texture. Creamy and beautifully complemented by banana chunks and vanilla wafers, this dessert is bliss.
They also offer cakes perfect for special occasions! Prices start at PHP1,500 for 6" cakes and PHP1,850 for 9" cakes.
I can't wait for M Bakery to open on August 22 at One Bonifacio High Street Park and grab a pint or two of Banana Pudding and a bunch of Double Fudge Brownies. I'm also excited to try the other cupcakes and cookies.
And if you're excited too, you might want to go for its opening promo where first 5 guests get 1 year supply of banana pudding (1 tub a month) with a minimum spend of P500. The next 95 customers get M Bakery vouchers.

M Bakery is located at Ground Floor, One Bonifacio High Street Mall, 5th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.
