Hello, Slater's 50/50! The place was pretty packed with people so we had to wait for about half an hour to get a table. While waiting, K and I decided to go for a walk while couple T and K wait for our table.
The place is different from the other parts of Los Angeles. I actually find it pretty romantic. There are some quaint restaurants and for some reason, a handful of flower vendors too. I felt like buying one (love thy self) but naaah, I need the money for my other food trips!
After a while, K and I decided to head back as we're getting hungry too. And... we still have to wait for a few more minutes.
Thankfully, service was pretty quick. We ordered Fried Bacon Mac n' Cheese Balls ($5.95), Slater's Vampire Dip ($8.95), B' B' B' Bacon Burger ($10.95), The 50/50 ($9.95) and the Fried Chicken & Pancakes ($10.95) and in less than 10 minutes, our appetizers arrived.
The Fried Bacon Mac n' Cheese is your typical Mac n' Cheese covered in breaded coating with a tinge of bacon. It was pretty good though I hope it was a bit cheesier.
One of our favorites that night was the Slater's Vampire Dip! The dip had a strong garlic taste and it went so well with the cheese and artichoke. We also enjoyed the pita and T can't help but finish the sourdough.
The two burgers had very FAT patties and splitting the burgers into four was a brilliant idea as we just could not finish an order individually.
The 50/50 was pretty good and surprisingly went well with the avocado mash and adobo mayo (which at first was weird but you'll get used to it). The patty was so juicy and the sunny side up egg didn't help!
The B' B' B' Bacon on the other hand was BACON OVERLOAD!!! Bacon pretzel bun with patty with bacon, thick cut bacon and bacon island dressing (with cheese and sunny side up). *Gulp!* It was oozing with bacon. I never realized though that too much bacon isn't that great. Don't get me wrong, I loved the burger but after two bites, I had enough.
The Fried Chicken & Pancakes was the other favorite that night. The chicken was flavorful and really crispy. The house-made-bacon-infused-country-gravy was a bit too much though after munching on a burger that was practically bacon. I enjoyed the fluffiness of the pancakes though. This one is a must-order!
It was a night of laughter and just creating great memories for me to bring back home and K1, K2 and T sure did a great job!
Slater's 50/50 is located on the corner of Raymond and Union, 61 North Raymond Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91103.
