Brotzeit is a German Bier Bar & Restaurant which oddly started in Singapore. But they ensure that they offer authentic Bavarian cuisine. According to their site, “brot” means bread while “zeit” means time referring to a leisure meal accompanied by beer.
The place is indeed cozy and it has a masculine feel to it—perhaps because of the brown tones.
N (girl) and I are not beer people so we opted not to order any though I was tempted to try. Then again, I remembered the existing bet I have with N (boy) and I just have to win.
First served was the Nümberger with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes as side dishes. I loved that the sausage wasn’t overly processed or mashed. You can still feel the chunks of pork and it was quite juicy!
I loved
eating it with the sour cabbages. The mashed potatoes were delightful too as it
was very smooth and quite creamy.
The Schnokokcuhen is good! The cake was moist and the molten chocolate was divine and not overly sweet. I just hope that they served it a tad warmer to have a better contrast with the ice cream.
Overall, I enjoyed having my early dinner there. I’d love to order another plate of Nümberger or maybe try the platter next time. I heard that the curry sausage is their bestseller but I’m not too fond of curry. Then again, this dish might change that.
Brotzeit is located at Ground floor, Shangri-La Plaza Mall, Mandaluyong City. It’s beside Pages Deli.
