Guilt-Free Snack: K-Radish Pickled Radish

I used to think that all kimchis are made and taste the same. My first ever bite of kimchi was beyond appalling that I refused to eat kimchi for almost a decade! Talk about the saying 'first impression lasts'. But after discovering how great ssambaps are, I became open to the idea of having kimchi with my Korean BBQ. I even fell in love with kimchi fried rice to the point of having it for breakfast at least once a week. And one of my favorite snacks now is Kimchi Radish by K-Radish.

Hello, K-Radish.

K-Radish is the brainchild of two doctors who know their way in the kitchen. Drs. Harris and Marie Co came up with the idea of offering pickled radish during the nationwide quarantine and thought that it would be a perfect snack to have while watching our favorite K-Dramas.

First Bite: Yoshimeatsu's Sushi Bake and Tebasaki

Manila's community quarantine gave birth to many home bakers, chefs, and first-time entrepreneurs. Every day, our social media feeds get filled with photos of baked goods, handicrafts, and items for reselling. It felt like a trap as I couldn't help myself from trying a lot. Sushi bake was no exception. Just hearing my friends gush about it makes me drool. And I was happy to be able to try the one from Yoshimeatsu a few weeks back.

Hello, Yoshimeatsu

Korean BBQ has become a staple in our diet that we couldn't help crave for it during the lockdown. From its mouthwatering premium, a la carte meats to bang-for-the-buck eat all you can deals, just the thought of indulging in this flavorful feast is enough to make many Korean BBQ fans drool. And I'm so glad that my favorite Korean BBQ joint decided to offer its bestselling meats for delivery.

Happyfoods is the company behind popular Korean BBQ restaurants Sariwon, Soban, and Sibyullee. I have been a fan of these three brands for years. And this is the only restaurant group that made me appreciate kimchi.

Geonbae Offers Unlimited Korean and Japanese Favorites

The charm of unlimited meat is undeniably strong. It's so attractive that numerous Korean BBQ chains opened these past years. There are those priced unbelievably affordable while others market its brands as premium. The newer K-BBQ stores made things more interesting by offering the best of Korean and Japanese cuisines. And I heard that one of the best places to get your Seoul and Tokyo favorites is Geonbae.

The overwhelming selection of barbecue meats is paired with an equally long list of side dishes featuring the likes of japchae, mandu, tteokbokki, ramyeon, rolls and steamed egg aside from the usual kimchi and pickled radish.

Restaurant Love: Sibyullee

The boom of Korean BBQ joints in the Metro made deciding on where to grab your unli meat fix a daunting task. I've seen several restaurants offering tempting prices but I couldn't help but think of the quality of meat they serve to at least break even. But one establishment proved that you can have a quality meat feast without breaking the piggy bank.

Hello, Sibyullee
Sibyullee has been known for its scrumptious cheese platters when it opened a few years back. It was a hip place that offers great tasting casual Korean dishes and it easily gained following and patrons. And many were thrilled when it rebranded as an unli Korean BBQ joint.

First Bite: Jin Joo Korean Grill

Korean BBQ is one of the hottest concepts in Manila to date. With several barbecue joints opening here and there, competition has been very tough that simply offering the classics won't do. Jin Joo knew this and brought its A game by offering not just one or two flavors of samgyupsal but eight which was something new in the Korean BBQ food scene, at least in Manila. And Jin Joo has a few more up its sleeves, or grill for that matter.
