Milk tea has been one of the drinks I've been craving since the lockdown. But the fact that I can't reheat it makes me worried. Yes, studies are saying that transmission through food is low to unlikely. But you can never say to a pregnant woman's face that she's a germaphobe when she has a little one to protect. Thankfully, Serenitea started offering DIY kits of its bestsellers. It made me feel more at ease as I get to make and enjoy my drinks in a space I'd consider safe.
Hello, Serenitea.
Serenitea launched its DIY milk tea kits back in April. And it was an instant hit. Available in Okinawa and Taro variants, it also has sets that come in your favorite sinkers.
For Okinawa, there are:
Okinawa Home Kit (PHP699, 15 sachets of Okinawa Milk Tea, no sinkers)
Okinawa Pudding Home Kit (PHP1,299)
Okinawa Panna Cotta Home Kit (PHP1,199)
Okinawa Pearls Home Kit (PHP1,099)
For Taro:
Taro Pudding Home Kit (PHP1,299)
Taro Panna Cotta Home Kit (PHP1,199)
Taro Pearls Home Kit (PHP1,099)
There is also a set for those who can't decide on which one to get--Taro + Okinawa Home Kit (PHP1,299).
I got its Okinawa Pearls Home Kit (PHP1,099) and Taro Panna Cotta Home Kit (PHP1,199).
Both came with two disposable cups and several plastic straws. And since these kits were over PHP700, I scored limited edition Pac-Man x Serenitea tumblers.
The drinks were so easy to prepare. All I had to do was dilute the powder (follow the instructions that come with the kits) in hot water and add ice or milk. [Best to use less hot water or ice if you want your drink to be sweeter or more flavorful.]
I was more worried about the panna cotta and pearls as I don't have a good track record making those. My previous attempts to make those were a total failure.
I'm not sure if it's the quality of the ingredients used. But Serenitea's panna cotta came out silky smooth and added delightful texture to my taro drink.
The pearls, too, were cooked thoroughly and kept its addictive chewy texture. Just don't cook too much as it still tends to get hard when kept in the fridge for too long.
Since I'm supposed to avoid milk tea during pregnancy, I go crazy with Serenitea's Taro with panna cotta. And it's so good!
Get your DIY kit now from any of Serenitea's branches or buy it through its Lazada or Shopee stores.
