City Life: H Hotels

One of the perks of being a freelancer is that you can be very mobile and dodge traffic from time to time. But when you live in a city that has insane traffic, you cannot avoid being stuck on the road. So R and I thought of something... why not stay where we have to go to the following day? And with that idea in mind, we spontaneously booked a room at one of the numerous hotels in Quezon City.

Hello, H Hotels.
H Hotels is one of the small hotels in the busy Quezon City. I was attracted to book this hotel when I found out that it is situated just behind SM North. I figured that I could walk to the mall after checking in to grab dinner. However, the road you have to take to get to the mall is too dark and scary. I ended up buying a meal near R's office instead.

I booked one of its Superior Queen Studio rooms at $32/night from Agoda after checking other hotel booking sites. (I also called the hotel to check if booking straight would be cheaper given that I avoid Agoda's cut but the walk-in rate is actually more expensive by PHP100.)
Checking in went smoothly. I just presented my Agoda confirmation email and valid ID and after accomplishing a short guest form, I was handed a key to our room on the 7th floor.

The small hotel has a small lift to the rooms making it convenient for those who have heavy luggage.
As for the room, it was good enough for a few days. It has a small kitchen, desk, safety box and clothes rack. The bed was comfortable and the linens were clean (though it seemed like it drowned in detergent as it had a very strong soap smell). I noticed though that there were some areas that were dusty. And there was a used cotton bud left on the desk!!!
The washroom was small but decent. There were also toiletries included.

We decided to check the roof deck, the common area of the hotel, and we were pleasantly surprised with what we saw.
There were several tables and chairs perfect for lounging.
If you're worried about getting bitten by mosquitoes, there's also a mini enclosed air conditioned function room complete with tables, chairs, plugs and wifi where you could work or set a meeting. We decided to stay there to enjoy our dinner. As much as we would like to stay longer, the roof deck is only open until 10 p.m..
We headed back to the room and enjoyed watching some movies before calling it a night.

Check out the next morning was just as smooth as checking in. After a quick room check, I was set to go.

H Hotel is a decent place to consider when you have some business to do around the area. However, make sure that you have food with you if you plan to stay in as there are not much food establishments around the area. Also, if you wish to bring a car, make sure that you bring a small car as the hotel's basement parking could be very challenging for bigger cars, SUVs and vans.

H Hotel is located at #89 Road 1 Barangay Bagong Pag-asa, Quezon City.
