Beat the Heat and Flu with AICE's Milk & Eggs Ice Cream

Living in Manila is like getting used to being roasted daily. And I mean 'roasted' in a literal way as it hardly gets cold here. Hence, many crave cold treats such as halo-halo, bingsu, and other icy desserts almost 24/7. I'm so glad that ice cream is one of the most easily available heat relief products in the market, and it was made even better by AICE.

Hello, AICE.

With its appealing combination of affordable price points, a wide variety of flavors, and quality products, it was not surprising for Filipinos to go gaga over AICE since it launched in the Philippines back in 2018.

Black Scoop Launches its Pints-To-Go

Milk tea is one of the drinks I find hard to resist. I've been so used to gulping down at least one large cup a week. The lockdown changed all that as I barely had any sweet drink for months. To make up for all the milk tea I missed, I had a gallon of boba from Black Scoop and tried a few new items on its menu.

Hello, Black Scoop.
Black Scoop has been one of my favorite milk tea brands since 2018. I always get its classic boba flavors and fruit teas whenever I pass by.

Tiger Sugar's Boba Milk Ice Cream Bar is Now Available in Manila

Tiger Sugar was a big hit when it opened its first store in Bonifacio High Street back in 2018. Its hour-long lines didn't discourage locals and patiently waited just to get hold of its popular brown sugar milk drinks. And just when we thought its hype was dying down, it released something perfect to beat the Manila heat.

Hello, Tiger Sugar Boba Milk Ice Cream Bar!
Milk tea ice cream is not exactly new. We've seen several brands come up with versions of this crowd favorite flavor but not everyone was successful.

First Bite: Sundays by Merry Moo

Summer may have been long over but the intense Manila heat is here to stay. And there's no better way to keep cool than with a scoop or two of ice cream. But why stop there when you can have three and a yummy waffle bowl to eat it with?

Hello, Sundays by Merry Moo.
Merry Moo is one of the homegrown ice cream brands I love. Its fun and innovative flavors keep it relevant especially with today's discerning market.

First Bite: Eatogether Food Hall's Salad Station

I love it how our insatiable need for Instagram-worthy spaces has changed the food court scene. The birth of food halls (and food parks) added spark to our mundane quick lunch breaks and put extra oomph in our social media feeds. And one food hall spiced things up with a few taps here and there.

Hello, Eatogether Food Hall
Eatogether Food Hall is yet another concept by the Vikings Group that adds new twists and flair to the current food scene.

First Bite: Elephant Grounds Opens in Manila

Bonifacio Global City is staying true to the word global with the number of international brands and concepts filling all those empty spaces in the growing business district. Shake Shack just opened a few months ago and it was not too long before foodies shifted their attention towards another brand-- Elephant Grounds.

Hello, Elephant Grounds.
Elephant Grounds is finally open after almost a month long delay and its jam-packed shop is enough to prove that many were waiting to get a sip of its famous coffee and a taste of its ice cream and food curated and developed by Chef Nicco Santos. I actually haven't visited its main store in Hong Kong but I've heard from a few foodies that this place serves great food and drinks. And that was enough to keep me excited.

More than just Milkshakes: The Lost Bread

The Lost Bread has been one of the Instagrammable brands in town and probably one of the messiest too. I fell for its milkshake topped with cotton candy that I braved the humid and crowded food park of Maginhawa to try one. And it was an unpleasant experience. I never visited The Lost Bread for years and avoided it even when it opened in malls. But a post on Let's Eat Pare showing ChocNut Ice Cream made me think that it's time to give this shop a second chance.

Hello, The Lost Bread
I was surprised that The Lost Bread in SM Megamall offers more than just drinks. Aside from its picture perfect drinks, The Lost Bread also offers pasta, burgers and rice bowls to complement its sweet beverages.

First Bite: Maxi Mango

Being viral is one of the goals of anyone in this digital age. Virality leads to a massive increase in followers and in the case of food establishments, queue for hours. Such was the case for Maxi Mango after it became one of the hottest food items late last year.

Hello, Maxi Mango
I've first heard of Maxi Mango from the foodie community Let's Eat, Pare. Its posts received a lot of likes and comments that most stay in my feed for days! And seeing its crazy long line at Robinsons Galleria further fueled my curiosity. However, I do not have that intense desire to know if its Mango Float is worth the one hour wait. Instead, I waited for the day when Maxi Mango barely has a line. And that day finally happened last week when I dropped by Trinoma.

First Bite: The Community Kitchen

Nothing makes me happier more than finding an off the radar restaurant. And Christmas sure came in early when I got to try The Community Kitchen.

Hello, The Community Kitchen
The insane Manila traffic usually force me to pick just one place where I could do all the things I have to do--bank errands, grocery shopping and have a good meal. It's getting rarer and rarer for me to drive out of the way just for a meal. But I usually discover a gem worth finding whenever I do. And such was the case with The Community Kitchen.

Northern Chronicles: Kiss the Tiramisu opens its second branch in Trinoma

I always look forward to December as it means cooler breeze and sweater weather. But I don't think it's happening this year as it's still scorching hot despite being only a few weeks away from Christmas. Thankfully, there are cold treats to keep me sane. And I was thrilled to find out that the famous Korean dessert shop Kiss the Tiramisu finally opened its second branch. This time, in Trinoma!

Hello, Kiss the Tiramisu.
Kiss the Tiramisu is a popular Korean dessert shop that was born from a simple idea of combining two sweet favorites-- ice cream and tiramisu. Served a bit more "extra" by having it on a plastic gold-rimmed goblet which you can bring home, it became an instant hit, not just in Korea but in several countries as well, including Canada and the Philippines!

First Bite: Indulge Ice N Cream

Rain or shine, ice cream is a staple treat in Manila. With summer heat lingering year round, it won't be surprising to know a friend or two who can wolf down a tub of this cold treat in one sitting. I usually could not resist the urge of grabbing a scoop or two myself whenever I pass by an ice cream parlor. And when I dropped by Novotel Manila Araneta Center, Indulge enticed me to try a few of its flavors.

Hello, Indulge
I was in a rush to head somewhere else after a quick errand at Novotel so I zeroed in on Indulge's grab and go Ice N Cream which offers a nice mix of classic and new flavors.

Adding Brrr this Ber Month: Dairy Queen's Cheesecake Blizzard Flavors

With Christmas just around the corner and the first BER month about to end in two weeks, I was expecting a cooler weather. But instead of sporting sweaters and jackets, I was still in my summer dress as I try to look for shelter, not from the rain, but from the scorching Manila heat. Yes, summer is still far from over and I sure am glad that we have Dairy Queen to save us from having a literal meltdown.

Hello, Dairy Queen
Dairy Queen has been one of my go to places for frozen treats. As the only brand I know that serves its ice cream upside down, it would be hard to forget DQ (as most of us fondly call it).

Get a Taste of New York with Yellow Cab's Newest Flavors

My relationship with pizza is never smooth sailing. It always start with it luring me with its enticing aroma, demanding unwavering attention to admire its glorious toppings. Each bite would give me this burst of happiness, like a kid seeing her crush at the park. But alas, all things come to an end. And in this case, when I get to the crust and it was the last slice in the box. But things might be different this time around.

Hello, Yellow Cab!

First Bite: AG New World Manila Bay's Market Cafe

I rarely visit the side of Manila Bay. I think I could still count with one hand how many times I've been in the area in the past decade. But I think I found a good reason to drop by more often.

Hello, Market Cafe.
Market Cafe has been around back when AG New World Manila Bay was still Hyatt Hotel. Its mouthwatering buffet spread has pleased countless foodies and travelers that have made the restaurant a popular destination

Best of Boracay in Manila: Coco Mama

I always feast on cold treats whenever I'm basking under the sun. With ice cream and fruit shakes as my staples when at the beach, I've received a handful of recommendations to try Coco Mama in Boracay. However, I never saw its store after being there for 4 days. And I wouldn't have thought that I'd be trying it for the first time in... Manila.

Hello, Coco Mama!
This popular ice cream joint from Boracay is known for its coconut ice cream. It being vegan, non-dairy, lactose-free, gluten-free and having low glycemic index makes this an in demand dessert to most foreign visitors who are more particular with food.

Revisited: Sebastian's Ice Cream

A meal is never complete without desserts. I'd always look for something sweet to cap my meal and one of my go to desserts is ice cream. And I was giddy to stumble upon Sebastian's after my hearty meal at Kureji

Hello, Sebastian's Ice Cream
Sebastian's Ice Cream has been around for quite some time now. I still remember how it reinvented classic Pinoy treats such as Sapin-Sapin and Green Mango into ice cream. Not only did it catch attention from foodies around the metro, it also delivered superb and great tasting products.
