I have a weak spot for bread. I find freshly baked bread so irresistible that I could never say no to it. And when I was asked by D if she could send me some of her focaccia bread, I quickly said yes!

Food Delivery: Otter Breads' Sourdough Bread and Sourdough Pancakes
Manila's three-month lockdown has turned many into bakers. My social media feeds have been full of cookie, buns, and cake photos that I thought I was browsing through a bakeshop catalog. But one particular post caught my interest. And that was Otter Breads' sourdough pancakes.
Hello, Otter Breads.
The power duo behind Fat Girls Day Out has been busy baking sourdough loaves for months before it officially launched Otter Breads last April.

Midsummer Manila Trunk Show Finds
I used to be so addicted to bazaars that I mark each and every one in my calendar. And yes, it definitely drains the budget. I still remember how excited I was whenever the Rockwell or Noel bazaars will announce its dates and I make sure to block at least 2 of the three dates for shopping. But as I grew older, my priorities changed. I started to save more and smarter on where I spend my hard earned cash. Needless to say, I've grown more mature and learned when to splurge and save. But when I got invited to Midsummer Manila's trunk show a few weeks back, the shopaholic in me was back.
Hello, Midsummer Manila.
Midsummer Manila is a bazaar and trunk show organizer that has been roaming around Manila specifically Makati and BGC with its curated concessionaires offering unique finds.
I was invited to (I think) its second trunk show which took place in one of Arya Residences' function rooms and I was impressed with the selection. Hardly any can be considered mainstream. Most are beautifully hand crafted and worth every penny.
Here's a rundown of my favorite finds:

Love at First Bite: Kumori's Ube Hanjuku Cheese
I always look forward to a Kumori branch opening as it always mean that a new product will launched. I went crazy over the apple cheese tarts which was released during the opening of Kumori's Robinson's Manila. The lovely crunch of the apple bits, creamy cheese tart filling and cinnamon on top made this an addicting snack. And when Kumori launched its Ube Hanjuku Cheese in celebration of its SM Mall of Asia store, I promised myself that I will swing by and try it asap. But given that SM MOA is in a faraway land, it took me a long time before I managed to drop by.
Hello, Kumori!
Unfamiliar with SM Mall of Asia, I asked several guards its exact location. And I was pointed to different areas. One of the guards said that it's on the second floor while another said it's on the ground floor. One said to turn left while another told me to go straight. In short, I ended up circling the main mall for two hours. (And I ended up spending a few thousands at Forever 21.)

Love at First Bite: Tiny Teapot Bakery Cafe
Those neighborhood cafes never fail to lure me. I always get curious with what they offer and if it's a gem worth finding. Yesterday, I decided to swing by this new cafe along Pioneer street.

Love at First Sip: Fundamental Coffee
My eyes turn to hearts every time I get word that there's a new coffee shop in town. But those hearts get broken into pieces when I find out that these cafes are not exactly near or impossible to get to with the current traffic situation. Luckily, being a full time blogger now allows me to be visit areas during less busy hours and I finally got to visit Fundamental Coffee.

First Bite: Abacá Baking Company
Abaca is not a foreign name to those who frequent Cebu. As one of the popular restaurant groups in the city, a visit to any of Abaca Group’s restaurants is a must. I’ve been to Maya, Abaca’s Mexican joint last 2015 after my trip to Bantayan Island and I was impressed by its nachos and very flavorful Asada Fajitas. This time around, I made sure to drop by its cafe counterpart, Abacá Baking Company.
Hello, Abacá Baking Company.
Located a few steps away from Maya, this place has a very chill and New York bakery vibe.
Since there are only high stools on the ground floor, we decided to head up to the second floor. I was hoping that some of the staff would help us carry our luggages (as we were on our way to the airport then) upstairs but we didn’t get any assistance from anyone even when some were just idle when we arrived.
We were approached by a server with a very red nose and handed us menu. With hoarse voice, she mentioned their bestsellers and we decided to go for Tomato Soup (PHP195), Skillet Breakfast (PHP495) and Calamansi (PHP55). For dessert, we went with Fresh Fruit Tart (PHP225).

First Bite: Jipan's Salted Egg Croissant
I love anything with salted egg. I went crazy with the salted egg prawns of Din Tai Fung and I fell in love with Stella’s salted egg chips. I also hoard those colored eggs whenever I see it in Greenhills. And when I heard that Jipan sells salted egg croissants, I just have to visit it ASAP.
Hello, Jipan!
I used to frequent its SM Megamall branch when I was younger and go crazy with its chocolate croissants. But this time around, I went with Salted Egg Croissant (PHP125). I also had a bag of Matcha Croissants (PHP180, 10 pieces) to go.

First Bite: Cafe by the Ruins
Cafe by the Ruins has been one of the most popular restaurants in Baguio that it became a must-visit place when in the land of ube jams and strawberries. I have tried to visit this place a few times but failed till my most recent trip up North.
Hello, Cafe by the Ruins!
I have dreamt of dining here for more than a year now. I always drool over its mouthwatering dishes and get mesmerized by the beauty of its interiors I see on Facebook and Instagram. But I was surprised with what I saw when I entered the famous restaurant.
The place has an ambiance that would make you feel like you’re in the woods dining with pixies and friendly dwarves but with a slight Tim Burton touch. It was poorly lit though and made me a bit paranoid with mosquitoes that I applied insect repellant as soon as we got to our table. We also got a sniff of something not so pleasant during our visit.
Since we were not that hungry, R and I opted to just order one cup of Rizal’s Tsokolate-e (PHP145) and Chocolate Croissant (PHP100). Service was quick and it was probably because we got there just in time for last call.
The cup of hot chocolate was quite good as it had a nice and rich chocolate taste to it. It was also thick, perfect for the cool Baguio weather. Unfortunately, it was quite humid that night so I didn’t get to enjoy my cup to the fullest. But I really liked that this cup had a smooth texture unlike the batirol type which was rough.

First Bite: Wolfgang's Steakhouse
R never fails to make
me fat. He suddenly messaged me that we could have a fancy dinner a few days
ago and that I could pick any restaurant. I went with this steakhouse in
Resorts World Manila. And so, we braved the weeknight traffic (which was
intensified by the sudden heavy rainfall) and got to RW Manila a bit past 8.
Hello, Wolfgang’s
Steakhouse!
I was surprised to see the steakhouse packed on a weeknight.
There were only a few tables left when we got there.
I was ushered to the table near the washroom and after a few
minutes, I felt uncomfortable with people walking past me. I also disliked the
creaking sound and movement of the floor every time someone steps on the
planks. They have to do something with the terrible flooring installation.
I was then moved to another table nearer the bar area and it
addressed my first concern but not the second. It seems like the whole place
had uneven flooring.
Anyway, back to steaks.
R and I ordered Porterhouse
for Two (PHP4,988 | 1kg) and Filet Mignon (PHP2,958 |450g). We also
got Lobster Cocktail (PHP3,688) for
appetizer and Jumbo Baked Potato
(PHP158) as side dish. I also ordered a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon (PHP418) to pair my steak.
While waiting for our meals, we enjoyed the wait basket of
warm bread and butter. I loved the soft dinner buns with ham bits.
The lobster cocktail was served next. (Side note: I was
quite disappointed with how the server took this order. She was not sure on how
much lobster we get per order. I just had to ask as PHP3,688 is pretty steep
for an appetizer.) One order comes with one lobster cut in half.
The server assisted us with our first serving of lobster and gave us a
dollop of sweet and tangy sauce that came with the cocktail.
Sadly, it wasn’t spectacular and quite forgettable. If only
I knew, I would have just ordered another steak.
R’s Porterhouse was served next and it was HUGE! It’s good
enough for three hungry individuals!
We had it prepared medium so the center was still a bit
bloody when it was served. There were a few dry parts and some were a bit
overcooked for medium. Some parts were succulent but not outstanding for me to
crave for more.

Restaurant Love: Schmidt's Hotdogs
Schmidt’s is one of the well-known hotdog brands in Manila. It serves various well-garnished hotdog sandwiches at relatively steep price but are worth every penny. It has been years since I last had a bite of Schmidt’s hotdogs and when I spotted it last weekend, I made sure that I do not miss my chance sinking my teeth into some juicy meaty treat.
Hello, Schmidt’s!
The place is pretty small and seemed to be designed to look like a kiosk with a few tables and benches for dining. Since Podium is hardly packed even during holidays, we easily got a table.
My mom and sister were still stuffed from lunch so we decided to just go with one sandwich—The Julius (PHP190). I also added PHP60 to get one liter of Iced Tea which is normally priced at PHP90.
Service was quick and we got our meal and drink in less than 5 minutes.

Love at First Bite: Passion by Gérard Dubois
I have been eying this restaurant beside Green Pastures ever since I pass by it on my way home from St. Luke’s Medical Center. I thought it was an Italian restaurant as I read it as Passioni. (I was not wearing my eye glasses then hence the added letter.) But while waiting for K and J, I decided to pass by the shop and buy a pastry I saw featured on a food blog.
Hello, Passion by Gérard Dubois!
This brightly lit restaurant was packed when I visited. Luckily, there was still one available table inside.
I quickly told the server that I want to get a Strawberry Danish (PHP108) as soon as I entered after seeing that there was only one left.
Since it was self service, I got my order right after paying.
I took the last available table and started to enjoy my beautiful dessert (or appetizer as I was going to Grind right after for dinner). I took a bite and it was simply delicious. I loved the flakiness of the base and the smooth and creamy custard.
I also love the fact that Passion didn’t scrimp on the strawberries. They used huge and fresh ones. I immediately fell in love with it!

Restaurant Love Revisited: Wildflour
There are so many new restaurants in Bonifacio Global City and I always get overwhelmed when someone asks me where to eat. With hundreds of options, how can I choose just one? A few weekends ago, I met up with some of R’s friends from his Shanghai group and since we were running late, his friends made the decision to have dinner at Wildflour.
Hello, Wildflour.
This restaurant never lost its charm. The place was packed on a Saturday night and shortage of parking space did not seem to bother the diners (unless they live around the area).
Since R and I were quite famished, we quickly ordered Kimchi Fried Rice (PHP495) and Mac n' Cheese (PHP310). R also ordered one Baked Escargot (PHP75).
While waiting for our orders, we munched on the complimentary bread and chitchatted with R’s friends who were exhausted from braving the sun to walk around Fort Santiago.
After a couple of minutes, our Mac n' Cheese arrived.
R found the baked pasta a bit bland so I asked for parmesan cheese. But apparently, there is an extra charge for it. (WHAT THE?!)

Love at First Bite: Balai Pandesal
I love pandesal. It is one of the reasons why I’m a morning person. Nothing beats enjoying freshly baked pandesal in the morning paired with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. I am perfectly happy with Pan de Manila or Pan de Amerikana. There is also this bakeshop in Manila (as in Lungsod ng Maynila) that serves pretty good mini pandesal which I really love. It has this nice faint sweet taste that is simply addicting. But I only get to enjoy it when my aunt visits; which is very seldom. Then I saw Balai Pandesal.
Hello, Balai Pandesal!
I have been seeing a few reviews raving about this place. But the bakeshop locations I saw were not exactly near my area hence I was not really curious to try it. But it was fate for me to have this for breakfast when I saw it in San Juan during my food trip just last weekend.
I decided to buy a couple of Small Pandesal (PHP3.50 per piece while large ones are PHP7.00 per piece) and Toasted Siopao (PHP9.00 per piece). I didn’t buy much as I just bought a box of diced hopia from Baker’s Fair the day before.

Café Love: Wildflour Café + Bakery
It has been a long
while since I last visited Wildflour but I still remember its delectable
desserts and scrumptious pasta. And since I had an appointment right across the
lovely restaurant, I decided to have a nice afternoon snack here before heading
to my meeting.
Hello
again, Wildflour Café + Bakery.
I
was assisted as soon as I stepped in but the table where I was being directed
to had a LOT of mosquitoes flying around. I quickly told the server that I’d
rather sit elsewhere and she ushered me to the seat at the far end of the café.
After
reading through the menu and not feeling very hungry, I opted to get Wildflour Reuben (PHP420).
While
waiting, I was given a loaf of bread and Wildflour’s delicious salted butter. I
managed to eat half of the loaf before my order arrived.
I
was greeted by huge multi grain bread sandwiching homemade corned beef coleslaw
and crisp potato chips.

Restaurant Love: Poetry & Prose Patisserie
I have never been fond of partying, clubbing
or bar hopping. Some people say that I’m missing a lot. Maybe. But I am a-okay with that. It is just not for me. I don’t dance to *tugs
tugs tugs* nor do I like to scream just to be heard. I am happy with being in a
coffee shop or tea place and munch on some pastries and have a nice chat with
friends. Fine, I'm a cat lady without a cat.
It has been
a while since I last met my good friends A and I. I really enjoy being a third wheel when I’m with them.
This time,
we decided to hold our bible study at Poetry & Prose Patisserie as A has
been curious with its food and I have always wanted to try the pastries.
After a
quick look at the menu, A went with the Baba au Rhum (PHP105) and a cup of tea
(PHP125) while I ordered the Bread Basket (PHP275). I ordered a cup of Café Latte (PHP105),
Financiers (PHP85) and Mango Mousse (PHP255).
First served
were our drinks.
My café latte
was slightly sweet and the coffee’s taste wasn’t that strong. Perhaps I should
have ordered cappuccino instead. However, I always order cappuccino. I wanted
it to be stronger to have a better contrast with the sweet pastries.

Restaurant Love: Harina Artisan Bakery Café
I get really giddy
when I see new restaurants. As in crazy giddy! I’m just glad that my friends
are very understanding with my low EQ when it comes to food. And I am so
blessed to have N as a foodie friend! Just one message and she’s game! That’s
my kind of girl!
After our successful
Kapitolyo food trip, N and I decided to do a White Plains food trip. I was
beyond amazed that there are almost as many restaurants in White Plains (or
Katipunan Avenue) as in Kapitolyo. Our stops were very near each other that we
hardly had the time to burn the calories. With just a few steps, we were at our
next stop.
N and I learned our
lesson last time when we met quite late and we both had lunch prior to the food
trip. N had a burger while I had steak. This time around, we decided to meet at
10:30 a.m. and have brunch at Harina Artisan Bakery Café (our first stop).
We were famished when
we arrived as we both skipped breakfast for this. So, after a quick look at the
menu, we decided to go for the Biscuit and Gravy, a set with chicken fillet,
bacon and baked tomatoes (PHP225) and Bloomin’ Bread (PHP320).
N went for Tablea Hot Chocolate (PHP145) while I ordered Red Iced Tea (PHP125).
