Midsummer Manila Trunk Show Finds

I used to be so addicted to bazaars that I mark each and every one in my calendar. And yes, it definitely drains the budget. I still remember how excited I was whenever the Rockwell or Noel bazaars will announce its dates and I make sure to block at least 2 of the three dates for shopping. But as I grew older, my priorities changed. I started to save more and smarter on where I spend my hard earned cash. Needless to say, I've grown more mature and learned when to splurge and save. But when I got invited to Midsummer Manila's trunk show a few weeks back, the shopaholic in me was back.

Hello, Midsummer Manila
Midsummer Manila is a bazaar and trunk show organizer that has been roaming around Manila specifically Makati and BGC with its curated concessionaires offering unique finds.

I was invited to (I think) its second trunk show which took place in one of Arya Residences' function rooms and I was impressed with the selection. Hardly any can be considered mainstream. Most are beautifully hand crafted and worth every penny.

Here's a rundown of my favorite finds:

McDonald's Happy Meal Alert: The Minions Are Back!

I still remember how much nuggets I ate just to complete my Minions Happy Meal toys. I had a Happy Meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner for three consecutive days! And yes, I manage to complete it before they ran out of toys. *mwahahahaha*
I was pretty surprised though that McDonald’s thought of pre-ordering for the fans this year. I guess they received a lot of complaints last time.

Interested to pre-order and complete your collection hassle-free? If yes, then here are the steps to having your new batch of minions:

Go to any Mcdonald’s store from June 15-20, 2015.
Pre-order your complete set of Minions Happy Meal at the front counter for PHP949.
The Happy Meals are pre-selected and these are the inclusions:
-Complete set of Minions Happy Meal Toys (10 pieces)
-4 Burger McDo with regular fries Happy Meals
                -2 Chicken McDo Happy Meals
                -2 McSpaghetti Happy Meals
                -2 Burger McDo Happy Meals

You will be given a claiming stub which you must keep along with the official receipt of the pre-order transaction.
Notes:
  1. Claiming of HAPPY MEALS starts June 15 and ends August 19, 2015. Coupons are no longer valid beyond these dates. Claiming of MINION HAPPY MEAL TOYS starts June 25 and ends August 24, 2015. Coupons are no longer valid beyond these dates. No stub and official receipt, no redemption.
  2. Want a lot of minions? You can order up to 3 complete sets! If you want 4 or more, you have to bring a friend along to buy because pre-orders are limited to 3 sets per person.
  3. Only PWD discount of 20% is applicable for this promo.
  4. Pre-order is not available in Boracay branches.
I’m not sure if I’ll avail of the promo though as I’m not fond of the meals included. I want McNuggets! I’m a nuggets person and they did not include it. (I guess to make the total price more attractive?) I’m okay with “upgrading” if needed. Well, we’ll see. :)

Let's Go to Legoland

I have always wanted to visit Legoland but I never get to find the time to visit it. I remember my sister and I drooling over the commercial. Who cares if the rides are kiddie?! We'll be surrounded by colorful blocks!
It took a bit of effort before I managed to convince N to go to Legoland. But finally, we found ourselves on our way to Carlsbad, California for some bonding time with the lovable toys.
We arrived a bit past 1 p.m. and K and T welcomed us with their matching blue tops. N too was wearing blue. I was a bit blue (excuse the pun) as I was wearing white then. Boo! I didn't get the memo!
Hello colorful piece of land!
We were amazed by the blocks and blocks and blocks of wonderful Lego creations. At first, we were debating on whether the whole statues were 100% Lego. Of course the staff would say yes but we have our doubts.
We started the day with a hearty lunch. We spotted a place that serves Chicken Stir-Fry, Grilled Steak Sandwich, and Spicy Shrimp Linguini. T and I tried the sandwich while N ordered chicken and K got the linguini. N got the best dish.
Our first ride was a mini version of Enchanted Kingdom's Anchors Away. It was fun but it made us slightly dizzy. Just like the guy here. (Note: I failed to take pictures of the rides so I'll proceed to the things that mesmerized me.)

I'M IN LOVE: Minions of Despicable Me

It has been a while since I last bought a Happy Meal. I believe they were giving out Rise of the Guardians toys then (and I got an elf). I never thought of wanting to complete a collection again till…

BA BA BA BABANANA BA BA BA BABANANA NA NA NA AHH POTATO NA AH AH BANANA…
Yes, that song! Those cute yellow minions captured my heart ever since I saw them on the big screen helping out Gru to be the best villain ever.
