It has been a long while since I've visited Century City Mall. The horrific traffic in Makati never fails to keep me from this establishment. Luckily, I managed to drop by one Saturday with K before a foodie gathering. And of course, a trip to Century City Mall wouldn't be complete without visiting Hole in the Wall. This time, I made sure to try some of the relatively newer concepts and I started with... Liberation Shawarma.
Hello, Liberation Shawarma.
I was craving for sharwarma for weeks and it was timely that I spotted Liberation Shawarma at Hole in the Wall. Without spending an extra second to decide, I decided to go with Beef Pita Shawarma (PHP290). It is also available with rice (PHP380) but I wanted to save space for the other food finds in the area. And I also had a party to attend that afternoon.

First Bite: Hapag Heritage Cuisine
There's nothing more comforting than Filipino food. Always rich in flavor, each bite never fails to make me feel like at home. And at Hapag Heritage Cuisine, I didn't feel just at home, I felt like I had a gastronomical trip around the Philippines.
Hello, Hapag Heritage Cuisine.
This Filipino restaurant tucked inside the foodie haven Teachers Village was one of the stops of Zomato x Nestle Food Crawl.

Love at First Bite: Ninak
I used to always pass by Ninak whenever I explore Kapitolyo. However, I never had a chance to drop by because of the restaurant's lack of ample parking space for customers. I've actually heard and read good reviews about the place but I always end up dining somewhere where we could park. Thankfully, this Asian restaurant joint transferred to the lower ground of the newly opened Ayala Malls the 30th and I now do not have any reason of not visiting it.
Hello, Ninak!
I was invited by everyone's "beshie" (bestfriend) Yourfoodtographer to have lunch here one Saturday. Despite being sick and still recovering from my first Canton Fair, I decided to go as I've been eying this place for years! Following the only direction I got, I looked for "Bon Chon" and easily spotted Ninak near it.

First Bite: Wok2Go
In order to survive in
Manila, one must learn to move and act fast. And with the intense daily
struggle with city traffic, we are challenged to do several tasks at the same
time. Thankfully, a new food concept understands our need to be always on the
go and three brilliant minds thought of Wok2Go.
Hello, Wok2Go.
This refreshing concept by Kim Garcia, Marc Soong and Angie
Mead King located at Venice Grand Canal Mall is designed to allow its diners to
enjoy its savory dishes while being on the move.

First Bite: Poke/Poke
You know that the local food scene is getting crazier when more and more cuisines and dishes are being introduced to the market. Just a few months ago, I had my first ever poke bowl and I fell in love with the concept of rice topped with fresh raw fish. It’s like the Japanese chirashi but casually plated. As a hardcore sashimi lover, I instantly said yes when I got an invite to Poke/Poke’s preview event last Thursday.
Hello, Poke/Poke!
Okay, poke may not exactly be an entirely fresh concept here in Manila as there are already a handful of restaurants offering this Hawaiian treat. However, Poke/Poke is the first of its kind to offer Create Your Own Poke Bowls. For those who do not want to think of the ingredients to put in their bowls, fret not as Poke/Poke also has nine standard signature bowls to choose from.

The Healthy Diaries: Chimara
I usually steer away from healthy food as more often than not, it tastes bad for me. I guess I’m just not meant to be a healthy eater as I like fats, sweet stuff and everything actually bad for the body. Though I try to eat those dangerous tummy ticklers moderately, I could feel the oil crawling and flowing through my veins and getting stuck somewhere. I just had to detoxify. And when A of Chimara contacted me to sample their dishes, I quickly said yes.
Hello, Chimara!
Located at the ground floor of U.P. Town Center, I was greeted by a bright green counter which screams “healthy restaurant”.
I went in and was welcomed by the friendly staff who assisted me in getting the bestsellers. I went with Faux Beef Salpicao with Rice (PHP180) and Tuna Wasabi Aioli Salad (PHP230). For drink, I ordered I am Strong (PHP80, petite).
My drink was served first and it tasted really… healthy. The beetroot gave the drink an earthy taste that might take a while for others to enjoy. The carrot and apple added a bit of sweet taste which made my bright red drink enjoyable.

First Bite: Tower Restaurant
I always get so excited whenever I go to Quezon City for a food trip as I’d always discover a gem waiting to be found. One of which is this Filipino restaurant with a name far from being thought of as an establishment that offers Pinoy favorites.
Hello, Tower Restaurant.
This fancy looking restaurant that exudes a vibe of offering French dishes is actually named as such because it is located on the ground floor of UAP (United Architects of the Philippines) building which happens to have a radio tower on top.
The first thing I noticed as soon as I stepped in was the predominant use of white and red for the interiors which confused me even more as it gave an impression of being a Chinese restaurant. But we were quickly corrected by the friendly owner, Architect Jojo, who also conceptualized some of the dishes offered to us during our visit.

Latest Korean Restaurant in BGC: Namoo House
I’m hooked to Korean food these past months. It all started with my addiction to kimchi rice. The mildly spiced bowl of carbs with some crunchy greens is just too irresistible. And so when I heard that Namoo House, a franchise of Maple Tree House in Seoul, Korea, is opening in Manila, I twirled with joy and giddily waited till it opened. And after a few reschedules, I finally found myself in front of the newest Korean restaurant in Manila.
Hello, Namoo House!
Located at the quieter side of Fort Bonifacio, you could easily miss this restaurant by car with its dim facade lights. But you’d easily spot this place if you’re strolling around the area as its friendly hostess will warmly greet you with a big smile on her face. And the glimmering green bottles will surely catch your attention.
It created a striking contrast against the golden exhaust tubes and levelled up the Korean grill restaurant's ambiance.
During our visit, we were able to try Marinated Boneless Short Ribs (PHP750), Woo Samgyup (PHP495) and Stone Bowl Bibimbap (PHP395).
First served were the sides and true to Korean style of dining, they served a lot of side dishes. There were the staple kimchi, spiced dilis and some greens.
No egg rolls were served but they gave us a small plate of sliced pickled mushrooms and it was better!

First Bite: Rolling Bap Korean Rolls House
It was my sister’s big day (by big day, I mean
graduation and not wedding) last Saturday and we all had a late start. We were
supposed to leave our place at 10 a.m. but we left an hour later. Traffic in Makati
was bad too and we got to PICC area past 12 noon. Since we wanted to have lunch
first, we decided to explore Macapagal Boulevard and found Hobbies of Asia. There
are several restaurants there but most guarantee a fresh scent of lunch to
stick to our clothes. After looking for other options, we discovered…
Rolling Bap Korean Rolls House
The place is pretty small and the menu is
straightforward. They have the basic dishes covered and we decided to get Regular Kimbap (PHP130), Bibim
Mandu
(PHP280), Tteokbokki (PHP270) and Bulgogi
Rice (PHP250).
First served were the complimentary
pickled radish and kimchi.
I didn’t try the kimchi
but I loved the slightly tangy and crunchy radish.
The kimbap was served next and it was delightful! The strips
of kani, egg, ham, cucumber, carrots and radish wrapped in sticky rice and chewy
nori was quite filling.
For PHP130, it was a steal! I also love the mix of
different textures and flavors.

Restaurant Discovery: Calderon Spanish Cocina Tapas y Bebidas
Since most of us had to leave by 4 p.m., we opted to have our last Kapitolyo food stop at Calderon. Yes, I have never been to this well-loved paella place. I guess I'm not really much of a foodie (or I am just stuck in Kapitolyo-Ortigas area... which I am changing now).
Hello, Calderon!
The place looks so homey and the Real Living girl in me went crazy with the warm hues of the interiors. I love it!
Since we were already full from our last three stops (including Kool Kids which I have yet to blog), we decided to go for one paella for sharing. We went with the usual Paella Valenciana (PHP780 for Pequeno). We were supposed to order churros too but they ran out. :(
While waiting, we were given a wait basket of bread which J enjoyed. We didn't mind waiting too as we were busy playing Cards Against Humanity.
After 20 minutes (which the server mentioned beforehand), our paella was served. It was so photogenic! I had fun taking photos of it. It doesn't have a bad angle at all.
