Being away from home for a month made me miss our local cuisine tenfold. Just thinking about how a single whiff of sinigang would make me drool drives me crazy. And it was an easy decision for us to pick Limbaga 77 for dinner after a long trip abroad.
Hello, Limbaga 77.
Limbaga 77 is a homey Filipino restaurant tucked inside the semi-residential area of Tomas Morato. It has been one of the highly rated restaurants in the area by Zomato users and it definitely made me excited to try some of its bestsellers.

Kam's Roast is now in Manila
Another Michelin-starred restaurant has reached Manila! This time, the famous foodie destination Kam's Roast has found a home at SM Megamall's Mega Fashion Hall and it will open this May 15 serving its mouthwatering roast meats. And I was lucky to be one of the few to have a sneak peek of FOODEE Global Concepts' newest venture.
Hello, Kam's Roast!
Known for its mouthwatering roast goose, Kam's Roast in Hong Kong has never been without a long queue in front of its facade. After all, it's not like all restaurants in the small city can impress food connoisseurs like Anthony Bourdain.

Restaurant Discovery: Oudon
Every time someone tells me that a restaurant serves good food, I get
curious. (And more often than not, I get too curious that I pester some friends
to try it with me.) Luckily though, it wasn’t hard to convince my colleagues to
try new restaurants and one Thursday afternoon, we decided to go to…
Oudon.
Oudon is a new Japanese
restaurant at The
Forum at Fort
Bonifacio. The place, adorned with sakura,
had a charming and welcoming vibe.
The dishes though are pricey as most
are around almost PHP400 while the really good ones are at PHP700 to PHP800. And
since I was feeling stingy that day, I opted to get Zaru
Oudon with Tori Gomoku Gohan (PHP320) and Hiyayakko (PHP160).
After 10 minutes, our orders were
served.
I was surprised with the size of my bowl
of noodles. It was big enough for me to wash my tops! (I was a bit worried
with it at first because the menu shows a small serving of noodles.
But I found out that they give one free refill of noodles so I gave in.)

Restaurant Discovery: Kimukatsu
People change as time pass by. Priorities shift and some friends come and go. That's how life is. Dwelling in how great things were will just hinder you from appreciating the present. I admit, I used to be guilty with reminiscing about the past, how happy and carefree college was. Okay, perhaps it wasn't as carefree as I recall as I do remember sleepless nights because of those financial models we just could not balance. But I am thankful for one thing... the people who stayed.
It has been a while since I last saw J and M. The last time I met J was way back in 2010 while it was 2012 for M. I guess we all got busy but interestingly, kept in touch thanks to Facebook. Hey, this could be a movie, eh? Uh, not really.
Anyway, we all decided to meet up at Shangri-La (since I'm the youngest and I get the first pick!) and went to Kimukatsu, a new Japanese restaurant at the East Wing.
For some reason, I had an impression that it is just like its neighbor, Ikkoryu Fukuoka. But when we got there and saw the menu, it is just like Yabu. KimuKATSU... duh! Since we're there and comfy, we decided to go for it.
I ordered the Black Pepper Katsu (PHP390) while J went for the Tatsuta-Age (PHP180) and another katsu viand I forgot to note. M on the other hand went for the Kimukatsu Plain Sandwich (PHP210) and Agedashi Tofu (PHP180). I also ordered Japanese Panna Cotta for dessert (PHP110).
First served were the complimentary miso soup and cabbage followed by the Tatsuta-Age and Kimukatsu Plain Sandwich. I had to take quick snapshots of the dishes as I was not with people who are used to being around a food blogger who believes in "picture before satisfying the tummy".

Healthy 2012: Pipino Vegetarian Food by Pino
Pork. Lots of pork and fried too! What more can make one feel so guilty, especially after undergoing a rather expensive cleansing diet? Thank goodness for the owners of Pino though for making healthy living accessible right after devouring its famous Kare-Kareng Bagnet.
Right above Pino Resto Bar is its healthier counterpart, Pipino.
Stuffed and heavy, we braved the stairs (well, it was just one flight from Pino but it looked like a mountain for us with pork-filled tummies).
