Spicy food never excite me. Just thinking about gasping for water after a few mouthfuls make me cringe. But I simply could not say no to The Halal Guys new Spicy BBQ Chicken Platter.

When in Baguio: Arca's Yard
Baguio is one of my go-to places when I need to relax, unwind and get fat with strawberries. Thanks to TPLEX, our trip to the land of ube halaya and cold breeze has been cut in half. Since then, I’ve visited Baguio a lot more but I always miss the opportunity to visit Arca’s Yard due to scheduled hibernation. But I finally managed to drop by this picturesque restaurant before bidding farewell to 2016.
Hello, Arca’s Yard!
This place has been highly recommended by a handful of food apps and reliable foodies. My smile was that of Cheshire Cat (from Alice in Wonderland) when I found out that we’ll have lunch there on New Year’s Eve. Worried that we might not have seats, I sent the place an SMS to reserve us a table for six hungry individuals.

Second Bite: Buffalo Wild Wings
R and I have been trying to cut our food expenses by staying in on weekends. When we feel the urge to eat out (simply because I’m lazy to cook), we try to stick to places where we have gift certificates. One of the restaurants where we could eat for free is Buffalo Wild Wings and we decided to head to the wings place one weekend.
Hello, Buffalo Wild Wings.
This place has a bit of sentimental value for us as it is the first restaurant we visited on a weeknight. I still remember how smooth R invited me. I was just at home then waiting for The Walking Dead to air when he messaged me if I want to eat out. “Eat out.” He said the magic words.
Anyway, to reminisce that night, we sat on the same bar but ordered different dishes. We went with Parmesan Garlic Chicken Flatbread (PHP375) and Juicy Steak Burger (PHP625). We also got Unlimited Iced Tea (PHP105).
The perk of sitting by the bar is that you’ll never be out of drinks. Our glasses were refilled countless times!
First served was the burger and it was delightful! The thick burger patty stayed true to its name… juicy. It was also seasoned well and each bite was packed with flavor.
The thin prime rib cuts added flavor and texture to the dish. I also enjoyed the crisp and gigantic onion rings. The fat fries were also great and went well with the filling burger. The Buffalo Wild Wings sauce added a bit of sweet spicy kick that made it very irresistible.

First Bite: Planet Grapes
I’m a fan of Planet of the Apes and that’s probably why I’m so curious
with Planet Grapes. I find it to be such a witty name and I’m a sucker for anything
witty.
Hello, Planet Grapes!
It has been months since I discovered
this place but the Alabang branch was a bit too far for me so I never had a
chance to visit. But food gods love me so much that Planet Grapes’ newest
branch is just a few blocks away from me—Shangri-La Plaza Mall.
Wine without the drama.
Planet Grapes somehow has a classy
yet warm ambiance. The dishes too aren’t priced that steep though some dishes
are slightly on the expensive side. We got the following: Kitayama Rib
eye Steak (PHP1,195), Grilled
Trio Prawns
(PHP495) and PG Super Sisig
(PHP210). For wine, we got Baby Bad Boy
2010 (PHP280 for 125 ml | PHP180 for 75 ml | PHP95 for 38 ml) and Pircas Negras Torrontes (PHP235 for 125
ml | PHP150 for 75 ml | PHP80 for 38 ml).
First served was the sisig.
R and I got confused with the tomatoes as we never had sisig
with tomatoes before. (I guess it is for the purpose of giving extra crunch?)
Admittedly, it’s not the best sisig
around but it was good. I just wish that it was crunchier.
