Zoos always seem to become part of our trips. Planned or unplanned, it never fails to be a fun adventure for us. And when we were running out of places to visit in Fukuoka City, R and I decided that it's time to pay Fukuoka City Zoological Garden a visit.
Hello, Fukuoka City Zoological Garden.
We skipped visiting the Fukuoka Zoo last time as we opted to go for Uminonakamichi Seaside Park instead which also has a small zoo and huge garden.

Kiddie Adventure: Zoobic Safari
There’s something about tigers that make them look so majestic. I have always wanted to have one as a pet, which we all know is not possible unless you’re from an extremely affluent family who has a private zoo. And since I’m far from being part of the top 100 richest of the rich, I’m fine with just watching these beauties from afar. But a fun trip to Subic made my dream of close encounter with my favorite furry friends a reality. Well, sort of.
Hello, Zoobic Safari!
R and I decided to pass by Zoobic Safari on our way to Bataan and use the vouchers we got from Metro Deal slashing the entrance fee from PHP545 down to PHP298 each.
At first, we were worried that the place was closed due to the heavy rain but were relieved upon seeing the almost packed parking lot. I went down first to check if the zoo was indeed open and if they accept our vouchers that day. And when everything was set, I signalled R to go down and bring another umbrella with him as we would be soaking wet if we were to share one umbrella.
After securing our tickets and applying mosquito repellant lotion, we went straight towards the entrance of the zoo which greeted us with a gift shop and several photo op areas with a huge snake, an orangutan and a tiger.

Kiddie Adventure: Ark Avilon Zoo
I just love doing unique activities. As a person who is no
longer fond of going to the malls as I find it so mundane, going to Binondo for
a kalesa ride or to La Mesa Eco Park to play paint ball are a few things I
wouldn’t mind doing every weekend. Imagine how happy I was when my favorite
Dragon lady said yes to change our Children’s Day plans to visit a zoo instead.
I was ecstatic!
It was slightly hard to find the place as it was at the very
back of Fun Ranch. And there were very few people to ask so T and I ended up
circling around all sweaty in our kiddie outfits. (Cue: Eww.)
After a few minutes, we found someone to ask and he told us
that the zoo is indeed at the far back. So we went back to the fish pond and
saw a walkway to the zoo’s entrance.
The place was pretty empty when we arrived. Well, it must be
because we were the only brave ones to face the crazy heat. We quickly paid the
entrance fee of PHP350 and went inside.
First thing we saw was the birds’ area. There were several
parrots and other birds of different shapes and sizes. (Can you sense I have no
interest in them?)
Then we saw… a Siberian Tiger! We were mesmerized by the size of the tiger. It seemed restless though walking back and forth across its very small cage. It took us 10 minutes or so before we could move on. We can’t help but stare at the wonderful creature. It was simply beautiful.
