If you have been partying for the past two decades then Cable Car won't be a stranger to you. Considered as one of the pioneers in the restaurant and bar industry, Cable Car has been around since 1992 satisfying late cravings of night owls and party goers. And to celebrate its 25th year, it prepared a handful of surprises that will delight even the morning foodies and non-drinkers.
Hello, Cable Car.
I always see Cable Car whenever I pass by Fort Strip but for some reason, I found it to be a place for pre-game and post-game drinks and meals. Since I don't really go out late at night to party, I didn't find the place appealing. I had no idea though that Cable Car is more than just beer and small bites. In fact, it is known for its sisig rice.

Game Night: Puzzles Board Game Lounge
I love board games
and I could be very
competitive too. That’s why I spent 9 hours in Ludo
last year. But since I got busier with work, I wasn’t able to visit that puzzle
heaven anymore. There are actually a lot of board game places now like Dyce N Dyne which I have yet to visit
too. One night, C posted something that made the gamer in me so excited.
Puzzle Board Game Lounge now has a Fort
Strip branch! Woohoo!
Since it’s quite near work, we
decided to head there on the last day of work before the long weekend. And
because we want to make sure that we have a table, C reserved one for a party
of 8.
But when we arrived, 5 minutes
before our reservation, there was no table available! The server and (I guess)
the owner said that there were a few walk-ins and they accommodated them. It
made me upset. What’s the point of reserving then? But what made matters worse
was there was another party of three who walked in and they were given a table
and seats before us (as soon as a table was cleared)! I told C that if I was
not with them, I would have walked out already but since everyone was eager to
play games and enjoy the night, we stayed.
After 20 or 30 minutes of standing in
the middle of a very narrow walkway in front of the counter where everyone who
try to cross to the other side will bump you, we finally managed to get a table
for 5 pax. Remember that we needed a table for 8? They claimed that the table
we had was good for 8. Yes, it is possible if the other three were floating.
(Just thinking about it annoys me!)
Anyway, we just sat down and ordered.
I decided to get Fried
Chicken and Cheese Pasta
(PHP250) and a bowl of Mushroom
Soup (PHP160). While waiting, I snacked on a pack of Sky Flakes.
Our food arrived as we were playing
Dirty Minds, a game that will test how clean or dirty you think.

First Bite: Draft Gastropub Manila
I always frequent Rockwell
for food and I discovered another favorite few weeks back. It was quite
unexpected. I was thinking of just relaxing at home that night as we just came
from Coron. But R’s friends all wanted to have dinner at Draft and since we
were hungry too, we decided to join them.
Hello, Draft Gastropub
Manila!
I recall that I visited the Draft BGC
branch a few years back with some colleagues but since we came from an event,
we were stuffed and just had light snacks and a few drinks. This time, R and I
ordered the Beef Pot Roast
(PHP480) for sharing, Paulaner
Dunkel (PHP200, 330ml) and Stella
Artois (PHP150, 330ml).
I’m not really a beer
person but the Paulaner Dunkel was pretty good! It didn’t have that bitter beer
taste unlike the one I ordered at Brotzeit.
It had a mildly sweet after taste and I like it.

Love at First Bark: Barkin’ Blends Café
I am a frustrated pet
lover. I love pets; but since I live in a condominium, I have very limited
options. I used to have goldfish, hamsters, hermit crabs and all those small
adorable bundles of joy. But what I really want is a puppy… a cute, sweet,
hyper puppy. So when Barkin’ Blends opened, I was one of the happy dog lovers
who went during its soft opening and so many things changed since my last
visit.
Hello again, Barkin’
Blends!
It has been several months since my
last visit and I was surprised that the puppies grew so much (and in number
too). This time, I got to try the puppy café’s savory dishes.
We ordered Marley N’ Cheese (PHP120), Skyegetti
(PHP120) and Smile’s Tunawich
(PHP90). We also ordered drinks which were PHP180 each and it already includes
our 2 hour pass in the puppy area. (There
was no limit before but since the puppy area gets packed, they had to limit
playtime.)
The Marley
N’ Cheese was such a comfort dish. The pasta was al dente and it sure was cheesy.
My sister loved it a lot!
Next served was my Smile’s Tunawich
and it was the usual tuna
sandwich.
Nothing fancy but it was filling.
The Skyegetti
had giant meatballs on it and it had the lovely tangy Italian sauce. I liked
the spaghetti
the best.

Puppy Love: Barkin' Blends
I love animals. Wait, let me make that more
specific. I love furry and cuddly animals. I get so giddy whenever I see a
puppy, kitten or just about anything that I could pat and hug. So when my
colleague M mentioned that a puppy café called Barkin' Blends will be opening soon, I JUST HAVE TO
VISIT IT ASAP.
My sister
and I were super excited to visit the puppy cafe. Unfortunately, she was too busy with
school work that she had meetings even on Sundays. (Eww.) And since my EQ drops
to negative when I really want something, I went without her. (Sorry.)
Hello,
Barkin’ Blends!
V was
already there when I arrived and we hurriedly paid the entrance fee of PHP180
inclusive of one drink so that we could play with the puppies.
There were a
lot of people so we were not able to have quality time with the puppies that
much.
