Restaurant Discovery: Your Local

Legaspi has transformed into another foodie destination. With quaint coffee shops and charming restaurants, this is one area I just have to visit. A few weeks back was my first trip in this area and I visited Yardstick and Local Edition. My favorite Dragon lady and I also planned visiting Your Local as it has been getting great reviews. It took longer than we planned but we finally got to pay the place a visit last week.

Hello, Your Local!
Since the place is usually packed, reservation is important. I made a reservation for two at 6 p.m. on (an apparently rainy) Saturday. Placing a reservation was smooth as after 3 minutes or so, I’m done. However, I got a call two days later telling me that my reservation is good until 7:30 p.m. only if I wanted a table (as they accidentally gave me bar seats). WHAT THE HECK? That made me upset as I don’t want to be constantly checking my watch while enjoying my dinner. But the woman assisting me was able to arrange things for me after I expressed my annoyance with the situation. [Case closed.]

The place was quite dark. I guess it sets that chill ambiance the young crowd wants.
We immediately ordered our food as we were both hungry. We settled for the Carrot Cake (PHP280) as appetizer, Torched Salmon Donburi (PHP390) and Chorizo Sandwich (PHP490) for main course. We also got Strawberry Lemonade (PHP190) and Sea Salt Lemonade (PHP160) for drinks.

Restaurant Love: Borough

It has been quite a while since I last saw R. I always organize the reunions of BOP 2008, a competition I attended way back in college, but for some reason, the reunions can hardly be called successful. *hurt*  But since R and I already blocked our Saturday that week, we decided to push through. Date. <3
Since our minds and tummies were set on having dinner at Borough, we went on with the plan. R was very excited with the Milk and Cookies and I really miss it too.

The place was half full when we arrived and we got the table near the stairs. We ordered Baked Mac N Cheese (PHP320) to share while R ordered the Adobo Sandwich and I got the Salmon and Brown Rice (PHP490). We also ordered Serendipity 3 (PHP200/glass), an alcoholic version of the popular Frozen Hot Chocolate of Serendipity CafĂ© in New York.
Serendipity 3 arrived first and I really tried to resist as I have nothing in my tummy the whole day. (Yes, it is quite hard to believe but it did happen and I will NEVER let it happen ever again!)

Anyway, I gave in and had a sip. I was surprised that the chocolate syrup and chocnut taste was very faint. I guess Absolut Vodka’s taste is something difficult to hide.
Next served was the Baked Mac N Cheese and it was as yummy as ever. I loved the rich cheesy flavor. Served fresh from the oven made all the difference too as every forkful means a battle with the stretchy cheese. Slightly annoying but a very wonderful sight.

Our dishes arrived next.

Restaurant Discovery: The Hungry Hound

[Continuation of my BGC food trip story.] N and I were supposed to stop by Sunshine Kitchen for stop #2 but the place was closed. We passed by a German Pub, Burgos Circle and much more but none seem to catch our eyes and tummies. Then N went to Instagram for other finds and we both decided to go to...
Hello, The Hungry Hound!
We practically own the place when we got there as we were the only customers. The young server seemed to be very eager to serve us too. We guessed that he must be so bored and wanted to do his job.

We went with two dishes, Smoked Bacon-Silog (PHP385) and Duck Fat Fries (PHP288). Just two you say? Well, we still have one more stop and food tripping in BGC kills the poor wallet.
We decided to finally order the Duck Fat Fries as it has been haunting me since I was in California. I just have to order it I guess. (Then I remembered afterwards that I had a few when I visited Green Pastures.)

The fries doesn't seem to be anything extraordinary. It tasted like deep fried potatoes. Or perhaps I just don't have the precise taste buds to differentiate the different oils used to fry food. The fries though were cooked crisp which I enjoyed. I just wish that they added a bit more cheese.
