First Bite: Kumori Cheese Tarts

Kumori has been a favorite of the foodie community ever since it opened its first store in Manila. With its mouthwatering cheesecakes and other delectable baked goods, it’s not surprising that many went crazy and got hooked. I have to admit, I’m one of them. Though pricey for a small cheesecake, I’d find myself buying a few to satisfy my moist cheesecake cravings. And when a fellow foodie recommended Kumori’s cheese tarts, I just have to try it if it is at par with Hajuku Kobo.

Hello again, Kumori!
After doing some errands, I went straight to the Kumori kiosk in Landmark’s food court and ordered three cheese tarts to go. For PHP60 per piece, I find it a bit steep for a small tart. But if it’s as good as they claim, then I’d definitely get my money’s worth.

I decided to get three tarts that day and ate one as soon as I paid for it.

Love at First Bite: Peperoni Pizzeria

Buy One, Take One. Those four words are just too appealing when used in the same phrase for a promo.

I have been reading a lot of good reviews about Peperoni, a newly opened pizzeria in Uptown Mall. It being featured on the looloo blog as one of the must visit restaurants of pizza lovers made me want to visit sooner!
It was perfect that J wanted to get his "pabili" from Japan as soon as possible and since dinner's on him, I requested that we visit the new pizzeria a lot of foodies have been raving about.

We went on the last day of the grand opening promo and the place was packed at 7:30 p.m. We were lucky though as the long communal table was not yet full and could accommodate us.
We were greeted by several bright colored metal chairs and an adorable witty lighted signage. The ceiling was also adorned with pizza paddles. (And a big plus about this place is that there are noticeably less flies flying around here compared to other establishments.)
After browsing through the menu, we decided to go with Pancetta and Prosciutto Crudo de Parma (PHP395, 9" pizza | PHP565, 12" pizza | PHP1,250, 21" pizza). Prices for the pizza are not bad at all! I checked the other dishes and some are reasonably priced. Some appetizers like soup though are a bit steep at PHP200. Then again, I do not know the serving sizes of these dishes.

Service was quick! Our pizzas were served in less than 15 minutes.
I took a slice of the Prosciutto Crudo de Parma pizza first and it sure tested my determination to eat. The knives were too dull to slice the prosciutto topping and it was the spoon that did the job.

Love at First Bite: Cafe Shibuya

R and I had a few errands to do before the long weekend last week and to cap the tiring day, we opted to have dinner at this quaint restaurant right across SM Hypermart in SM North Edsa.

Hello, Cafe Shibuya!
I spotted Cafe Shibuya while waiting in line for the cashier at the supermarket. The brightly lit place had a very charming ambiance which appealed to me. So when R asked where I want to have dinner, I pointed the bakery looking shop. It was perfect as we were too tired to head elsewhere. After paying for our groceries, we went straight across and sat on the chairs outside the restaurant while signalling the server for menu.
Peter, the friendly server told us that it is better to eat inside. We pointed out that we have a shopping cart which will obstruct the space between the dining tables. But he assured us that it was fine and began to pushed the cart inside and positioned it near the counter. He then served water right after taking care of our cart. Talk about great first impression!
We checked the menu and decided to go with Honey Lemongrass Chops (PHP295), Fish and Chips (PHP175) and Pink Passion (PHP85).

Service was fast too. Our drink was served in less than 5 minutes and our food soon followed. I was amazed!
Pink Passion was bubbly and slightly tangy. I loved that it wasn't too sweet and that it actually quenched my thirst.
